Just watched the DVD...
Spoilers below...
Me and my significant other just watched this. We really enjoyed it, aside from the low budget look of it. I was worried that the rape/O.D. scene was going to be too repugnant, but thankfully we weren't shown too much. Monica Keena was good, as always (that last shot of her was really beautiful and creepy), but her character was kind of a dolt at times. David Anders' performance was a little stiff. Towards the end when he revealed himself to be evil, he was still kind of a bore. There was no spark in him like we've seen in Alias. Maybe it was due to the script or the direction he received, I don't know.
The movie's pacing after Celia died was too slow. It could have used more interesting things happening. When she started interacting with the real world environment through mirrors, it picked up. I would have liked to see the other fratboys (the ones who watched the rape) get arrested or killed, but at least the rapist got what he deserved. The end scene with the Quija board was unexpectedly touching. I'm glad the movie didn't cop out and have her revived in the ambulance.
All in all, a decent fantasy/thriller with some heart. They could have went the nihilistic route and had her enact cold revenge, but this was quite different. I wouldn't call it pure horror.
The score of the film was great! I still have the final scene's music in my head the day after. Is there anywhere I can get it?
