the very end...**SPOILER**

so in the last few minutes of the movie when celia was messing with the ouija board she makes it say something like "when you die ill come for you. C." i was just wondering if she (Celia) is planning on doing to her friend what donovan did to her..sort of like cultivating her? i was just a little confused but if someone could clear it up for me id appreciate it! thanks!

**SPOILER**

It's kind off an open end.
She (Celia) could have massaged something like: "When you die I'll come to help/save you" to make clear that she has been saved by her family, but she didn't.
At the end she is sitting in front of the table with an odd smile on her face.
She could be "an angel" or just another "lost soul" tempted by donovan to seduce even more souls.

It's up to you what you find most logic.

its endings like that they make me not wanna watch those types of movies. its just confusing and who wants to finish watching something wondering what the heck had just happened. waste of money.

reply

As bad as the movie was, the ending was worse. Just like laidbacklia said, I wanted my money back when it was over. And I saw it for free.

hah.....money back!!! That mean that psihologicly you don't exist, or you live like an animal or something that doesen't think!!!
Since i soo this movie i keep asking myself if that was real i mean who knows what type of test are waiting 4 us ater we die, and before seen this i was just thinking at tete fly (musca tete) and oh my god we die and we wake up in the grave and we canno't breath, and is no one there to rescue us, we are alone in the grave and we keep dying and dying, no one knows what will especting us after this life and we all imagining manny things, all scarry things even the best of us who live their entire life praying to God and in God's name they say after this life we, the best go to heaven, but believe me in their souls they think the same: FEAR.
And that is all about and that the producer try to make us think, maye he's frited too, but we have to be prepared 4 the worse.

In conclusion: Yeah take your money back...and go to hellllllllllllllllllllllll cause you definitly you don't understand anything and you never will....and you know what? You don't have to!

Ps: Sorry 4 my bad english

This what I think.

Celia obviously made it up to heaven, why do you think Donavon was throwing a fit in the kitchen? I think the ending was just showing us that he, Donavon, manifested to take form of Celia's appearance and wants cultivate her friend there, so when she dies, she's going to think "Celia" is sincere and trust "her" like celia did Donavon. Come on, Donavon obviously took the form of a little boy when he first met Celia. Spirits, demons, whatever, they don't age.

Yup, that's exactly it. Celie is in heaven, this is Donovan, taking revenge on one of Celia's friends.

reply

I agree, the end was definitely Donovan impersonating Celia. Remember he is cultivating these souls for himself once they die, so he's just biding his time with the friend. Celia made it to heaven with her grandfather.

reply

in myths about Oujha boards its said using one alone 'opens up a doorway' making the person vunerable to manelovant spirits or demons

factor in also that Donovan DID feed on a piece of Celia and the movie stated that once fed upon they can take on the appearence of that person.

I think its apparent that its Donovan, not the real Celia

reply

i definitly agree with the fact it could be donovan but then again everyone has a guardian angel
i just saw this movie (on saturday the 11.)
but donovan is cute for the bad guy.:)

"the guy who deserves you is the one who thinks he doesnt"

reply

That is a good point ali sings the blues. I just watched it tonight and I just figured that Celia had won. She'd gone to heaven with her grand dad and had sent that message to Justine. I figured that when Justine died, she would go to her to help her find her way to the source.

But now I can't help but wonder if it was really Donovan who was sitting in that chair.

reply

They took care to make Celia in the end wear the same expression we see on Donovan's face throughout the movie, so from that we can surmise that having fed on her earlier in the film, he is able to mimic her appearance and begin cultivating again through the careful manipulation of Celia's old friend.

on the DVD's comentary, the director said that there's a deleted scrne. There was supposed to be an extra part right where Celia smiles after she sends her the "when you die ill come for you. C" message. As somebody above said, she has this odd almost evil smile and then she turns into Donovan, but the director felt it was too gloomy so he changed it to the scene everyone sees in the movie.

I really liked it, I'd give it a 5 out of 5 stars. I love David Anders; he's such a great actor. He should be a bigger star.

They really should have left that part in, I'll admit I saw the movie on Sci-Fi just last night after reading about it here and checked out this thread cause I was confused. Leaving that scene in would have cleared up any confusion. I thought it was her helping the friend but the smirk made me so uncertain. Thanks for clearing that up.

reply

Celia definitely sent the messages "rear/bathroom," "dead/body," and "call/police." After those, she escaped Donovan, although he wounded her. There are only two possibilities for the remaining message: 1) that Donovan sent it knowing that she had already gained the trust of the people using the board, or 2) that Celia sent it from Heaven. Judging from the expression on "Celia's" face at the end, it is probably the first, imo.

reply

It's Donovan (or the spirit) for the very simple reason that directors these days like to leave movies open ended to make way for possible sequels, no matter how low budget the movie. It's probably the only way to make money off a movie like this, because if it were to somehow gain a cult following, then it would be worth it to make a sequel, since all it was ever destined for was B movie status. There are a lot of other details to make it obviously him, since it's his sanctuary, she made it to heaven (obviously only spirts in limbo can affect the realm of the living), she made his smirk, he got some of her in him and so he was capable of looking like her and yes, her friend trusted anything that came out of that Ouija board to be her speaking.

reply

SO lets look at the facts:

1. Celia made it to "heaven" w/ her grandfather
2. Yes Donovan DID feed on her a little and could possibly take her image and sound like her
3. It was Celia, or at least a spirit that looked like her, at the end.

I can say that i think it was infact Celia, and my reasons for this are that Donovan said that the souleaters had to continue eating or they have to go back to "hell", and he didnt actually eat her soul, more tasted it. And yes, the rules of the other souleaters dont apply to him but he also said, though not in so many words, that he was holding the souls in the cellar for the big guy downstairs, meaning the devil. when she escaped I think he was angry that she got away but he also seemed a little worried, like maybe the devil was going to bring him back to "hell" for failing at his job.

but the main reason i think it was her and not donovan at the end is this: knowing how movies are written and that you do have to show the audience things that arent obvious unless you atleast hint to it, i think Celia would have mutated back into Donovan, that or it would have jsut been Donovan sitting in the chair at the end and he might have mutated into her IF it was supposed to be him. Also, when she sent the text message to her friend from beyond the grave, she signed it C. I dont think Donovan would have known this and wouldnt have signed it C. It was Celia basically telling her she would come for her to help her find her way after she died.

reply

Yeah I agree is the first. They could have easily cleared up any question by just having Donovan sitting in the chair at the end. Theres clearly no reason for him to take on the look of Celia when noone but the people watching the movie could see her anyway.

reply

Maybe, just maybe, it means Celia knew Donovan would try to take revenge on her through her friends and managed to get an agreement from whatever that movie's concept of God was to let her return at the proper time and prevent Donovan from taking her friends.

reply

Hello people!! Angels and heavenly spirits in heaven DO NOT speak through a ouija board , only evil and dead spirits do, and if the writer thinks otherwise then he's wack. Donovan had sucked part of her soul so he was probably able to take her form, hence celia's devilish smile at the end. There no other way to look at it given the circumstances.

reply

It was definitely Donovan. The 'evil' smile and the ambiguous message from 'beyond' was a dead giveaway, they didn't even need to have Celia turn into him. Plus it gives Donovan a good ending, otherwise the last we see him he's just throwing s**t around in the kitchen.

Call me crazy but I want at least a taste of heaven, before an eternity of hell.
