Similar to a comic book from 2000

Just finished watching this and really wasn't a fan, but it did remind me of a fantastic comic book series J. Michael Straczynski wrote back in 2000 called "Midnight Nation." It was a 12-issue series and it's been collected as a graphic novel as well.

While I wouldn't assert that this movie stole its story from that series because there are already a bunch of other quasi-purgatory movies (Jacob's Ladder, The Serpent and the Rainbow, The Jacket, Carnival of Souls), the idea of the soul-eaters made me think of "Midnight Nation" specifically. I would urge anyone who saw this movie to check out that series to see a similar story done in a much better way (in my eyes, anyway).
