Sleeveles short in snowy weather?

Among the many unbelievable scenes, one that was really stupid was when mother and daughter are sitting on the steps in summery clothes with a snowy background.

The scene is like that because they are sitting at the mother's place of work, which is a movie studio. So the snow is fake, they live in California in the movie.
