Do the father and Kate meet?

I'm thinking about renting this movie, but I'd really like to know if Hallum's father and Kate ever meet and what his reaction is to her. I know, I know...it's a minor point in the movie and shouldn't influence me one way or the other, but that's actually the most fascinating aspect of the film.
