"irregardless......" Is not a word

If you can find it on dictionary.com, then it must be a real word?!
"Irregardless" is a common misnomer. Regardless is correct.
Irregardless IS a real word, but it is superfluous as it means the same thing as regardless. It sounds awkward, sure, but it's still a real word.
shareActually - Merriam-Webster says irregardless is a word.
But for definition they direct you to Regardless.
About Irregardless - they say the most common remark about it is that "there is no such word" - And to use regardless instead.
lol. - Even the Dictionary writers have jokes

LOL irregardless IS a word. Not a very highly used word but it is a word... Now, like in the simpsons where homer smokes, he says UNregardless and that was the joke, cause that is NOT a word..

OK before y'all jump on me I realize the word is only being used here because it's a reference to the movie itself, but I find it funny that movie-200's own link to dictionary.com reflects that it's not a true word. It's one of those "non-words" that is used so commonly that it's basically been accepted into the English language. Somewhere along the line we blended "irrespective" with "regardless..."
From Dictionary.com:
"Usage Note: Irregardless is a word that many mistakenly believe to be correct usage in formal style, when in fact it is used chiefly in nonstandard speech or casual writing."
"irregardless: an erroneous word that, etymologically, means the exact opposite of what it is used to express, attested in non-standard writing from 1912, probably a blend of irrespective and regardless. Perhaps inspired by the double negative used as an emphatic."
REGARDLESS!!
shareDoesn't matter HOW it became a word. It's still a word. I don't use it. I think it sounds stupid, but I still have to acknowledge that it is a word. If it were not a real word, it couldn't even have a standard, accepted definition.
shareIt is only a word because the misuse of it MADE it a word and now everyone accepts it as a word. So even though it is a "word" because it is in the dictionary, it is not actually a WORD. WORD!
Wow, the word word has now lost all meaning to me....
It IS a word, an ERRONEOUS word. It's a double negative, having the prefix IR and the suffix less making it so.
HOWEVER, the definition of WORD is "A sound or a combination of sounds, or its representation in writing or printing, that symbolizes and communicates a meaning and may consist of a single morpheme or of a combination of morphemes."
SO, since the ERRONEOUS WORD, irregardless DOES convey a meaning that is generally understood it CAN be considered a WORD. Just a bad one that makes you sound like an idiot for using it.

I think it's irregardless weather or not irregardless is supposed to be regardless because they both mean the same thing?
