Unbelievably gut-wrenching
I was lucky enough to stumble upon this one night on American television a couple of years ago.
This was, hands down, the most gut-wrenching hour of television I have ever witnessed. I must've cried bucketloads during this - I could hardly see the TV screen at times. (My now-ex fiancée at the time walked in on me while it was on and I couldn't even speak)
Yet through the tears you couldn't help but be amazed at Johnny and his almost Vaudevillian deadpan humour (reminded me of the American entertainer Bob Hope in a way) in the face of such unbelievable agony and impending death. What an incredibly inspirational person. This documentary has had a huge impact on me even to this day - I get upset just thinking about it even now.
The Channel 4 Learning site says (about the DVD) "THIS PRODUCT IS NOT FOR SALE OUTSIDE THE UK" and e-mails to their contact address bounce. This is a terrible shame.
