the end??

does anyone understand the very end? that is the part i was confused on when they are both on the roof and exchange looks....... ???

i think it's about the fact the father has got the answer he's not a good man. so he goes to the roof to think about it( to jump like the kid). the son thinks about it too to jump. actually the family is a mess.
they recognise they are much alike.
well i don't know. that's my part of the story.
there are some storylines which could have been better written. but after all this makes a good movie, just not telling some things, you need to fill it in.
i'm pleased to see such movie.

I didn't understand it either. I want to know what the whole thing was. Did they not jump. I mean, I hope they didn't. I really liked Matrin's character. I just need the answers here.

i think perhaps it was a symbol of the father and son recognising similarities between each other.

i think that they were shocked to both be there and perhaps the dad realized his son may have had a connection to the kid that jumped. i think they did finally found answers they were both looking for. i don't think either one had the thought of jumping off. son went up to reminisce and the father went up for one final view from a different perspective.

They both went up there to think...and to try and see what this kid must have been thinking...niether was going to jump. They were both living their own lives and going through something and somehow see each other on this unlikely roof at this unlikely hour in this strange neighbourhood outside thier comfort zone.

I agree with Tom and Cat and Idjeet, they both went up there with the distant possibility of jumping, I mean they didn't go to actually do it, and saw each other and realised they were alike, and they both lived happily ever after! No, that bit was a joke - how can anybody in this film be happy?

If it's a boy, do you think it will look like Rodney? It doesn't matter as long as it's healthy!
