max payne 3 reference?!?

SPOILERS! it isnt an alan wake story spoiler, just something cool that references max payne. i figured id put spoiler for those that would rather be surprised.

so i got the game last night and started playing, finished episode 1. at the very beginning of episode 2 today i found a manuscript page. it was read in max paynes voice and talked about getiing revenge 13 years later. and he said something like "i can see them now, my wife and baby."

How can i be lost, if i've got nowhere to go?

It's not, they don't have anything to do with Max Payne 3, that's being made by Rockstar this time around. Still, it is a reference to Max Payne, right down to the book cover being done in the same style as the game covers...it seems more like there way of saying Max Payne is done and dead for them.

They don't have ANYTHING to do with 3.. is correct.. BUT they did do 1 and 2.. and there's a talk show FMV sequence later in the game.. in which Wake is asked about "killing off his moody detective".. And it was very clearly a .. I won't say swipe.. but a loving acknowledgment.. that. Max Payne, as the other poster said, is OVER for Remedy.

Which.. is really too bad.. I would RATHER have seen Remedy's take on it than Rockstar's.. They seem to be going in the route originally envisioned for Double Agent.. with the BALD Sam Fischer and all..

maybe.. just maybe I'm wrong.. but the tone.. and look of Max Payne.. is very specific.. I don't think transplanting him to South America really FITS.. the cold rainy nights. the snow.. that fits Max Payne (to me).

I am still gonna play Max Payne 3.. but I have a feeling much like Scream 3.. I will always wonder what COULD have been.

I agree. I don't have much faith in Max Payne 3. I heard James Mcaffry won't even be voicing him. That sucks. Of course, it might surprise me. Only time will tell.

On a shelf in Wakes study of the New York apartment, you can see two of his books are intitled "Alex Casey" and "The Fall of Alex Casey". Figured that was a referrence ;)
