feels inspired by,,,

Enjoying this game although it takes a little while to get into. To me it feels like it was influenced by In The Mouth Of Madness, Secret Window and The Fog (1980). Have not completed it yet but look forward to the big reveal.
What do you think it was influenced?

Have you read Sutter Cane?

The main one I thought was 'New Nightmare' in which Freddy Kruegar comes into the real world and starts killing people...... it's A LOT more complex than that but I don't want to ruin it for anyone who hasn't watched it. Anyway in this one, Freddy isn't actually Freddy, he is a dark, malevolant force that lives through artists, writers, painters etc.

I thought it was majorly inspired by Stephen King mostly. The Stand, Misery, The Shining etc.

deff. The Fog(original) with the fog creeping in an the figures appearing out of it to attack you,, but The Fog isnt even listed under references which is dumb

SCARFACE the greatest comedy ever made

This game seems to borrow ideas from the Silent Hill games.

And both the Silent Hill and Half Life franchises were inspired by the Stephen King short story, "The Mist". lol

Definitely. In The Mouth of Madness was the first thought I had when playing this game. In the Mouth of Madness was based around ideas found in H.P. Lovecraft novels, which show up in several other parts of the game as well. But I also thought it was very similar to Stephen Kings's The Dark Half as well. There are probably lots of other homages and similarities to other works of horror in Alan Wake.

Just watched The Dark Half/Stark again, and I thought the same. It's obvious that Remedy based Alan on Timothy Hutton's Character in this film, including his "Dark Half", Mr. Scratchy.
