Why do movies likes this get overlook in India?

KHosla Ka GHosla......The title itself makes the movie worth a watch. Indian films are in shortage of good titles. This is innovative. A good "black comedy", very well underplayed. I mean the director's medium was not overshadowed by overpowering star power, unwanted songs, unwanted locales, and no melodrama for a change. Good message with humor...its easy to relate to as most of the world is made up of working class common man household. Acting was superb from all the actors..even a small walk on role of (Shaitan (Insan) SINGH) Great....MUST WATCH....Its hard to believe this movie didn't get best dialogues or Best Story or Even an Acting nomination. GREATNESS is never needed to be recognized, it is just GREAT even when it is not found...

solah anah sahi, saw the movie and was impressed. In fact it was the best movie that i saw in the year 2006. Couldn't believe its so underrated. Jaane bhi do yaaro and Khosla ka ghosla are the two greatest comedies that India has ever produced. But both of them are still underrated. Maybe its the pscyhe, people are into more masala movies, song dance and big stars. People here in India have a feeling that no good movies can be made without big stars, but I would say its the opposite.

Because there are no Kapoors and Khans in it. JK.
This low budget movie wasn't a major hit, but was critically acclaimed. Excellent movie with excellent actors, should have been publicized more for commercial success.

Plain and simple!

The Indian audience is absolutely immature and lives in a make believe world. Even the Hollywood movies are like that. But over there you have movies which also depict reality and thus bring out a balance in terms of the releases. Over here it’s heavily tilted towards fancy unbelievable stuff. Probably it has a lot got to do with our pathetic social condition which imposes idealism and thereby introduces hypocrisy.

well, i dont know what to say to people like you... you show all the signs you are decrying in your posts, namely ignorance, hypocrisy, patronising and idealism.

Ignorance, because, if you didn't know (clearly you don't), the film was a big hit thanks to the multiplexes... it even won a national award, which is very uncommon for films like these. It did pretty decent business too- it was declared a "surprise" hit when it first released and is today counted among films like "Bheja Fry" in terms of business they did- only it is a notch above them.
Then, Ranvir Shorey got noticed in this film and that was when his career kickstarted. Do you think he would have got so many mainstream roles by in mainstream movies if the producers were not convinced of his saleability (which they were, why? again- the success of KKG!)
Finally, have you met anyone who didn't like the movie?

So, OP, don't be presumptuous and patronising to people in thinking that you were the only one who discovered this gem and it is a pity that other people don't know about it. They do. And they are not busy telling the rest of the world that they know something we don't- unlike you of course.

And Mr. Bailey, after reading the above, you will quit being a hypocrite and patronising I hope. Why, hypocrite? Well, you talk about the need for getting out the pathetic frame of mind of idealism that is currently besetting much of our society and by extension, our movies, right?
Well, guess what you are being the same thing. Why? Because KKG has idealism and feel-good factor written all over it, even if it is presented realistically. It is this 'realism' that runs wools over the eyes of the viewer that it is in fact, a typical "make-believe" he/she is watching.
Where else, tell me, would a bunch of noobies take away land from a land shark and he wouldn't notice? Can it happen in the real world? NO!!!!

So, please THINK BEFORE YOU POST ANYTHING HERE! IT WOULD SAVE TIME- YOURS AND MINE!
