Ten Canoes vs Kenny
I was having a conversation as to the merit of Ten Canoes over Kenny another Australian film nominated at the AFI for best film. I felt that 10 Canoes was the stronger picture because of cinematography and the style of storytelling. My friend felt that Kenny had a more universal feel and it succeed in achieving its goal, which was to be a damn funny film about a typical underdog. They felt the characterisation of Kenny was perfect and the story heartwarming. I agree! Both films are excellent. But I still put 10 Canoes higher. My friend also wondered which film would have a more universal feel. and if the 10 Canoes fart jokes were a little childish and simplistic.
