Ten Canoes vs Kenny

I was having a conversation as to the merit of Ten Canoes over Kenny another Australian film nominated at the AFI for best film. I felt that 10 Canoes was the stronger picture because of cinematography and the style of storytelling. My friend felt that Kenny had a more universal feel and it succeed in achieving its goal, which was to be a damn funny film about a typical underdog. They felt the characterisation of Kenny was perfect and the story heartwarming. I agree! Both films are excellent. But I still put 10 Canoes higher. My friend also wondered which film would have a more universal feel. and if the 10 Canoes fart jokes were a little childish and simplistic.
What do people think? Please state if you're Australian or not, too!

First: I am Aussie
2nd: Both films had their virtues and to me its like comparing ice cream and beer. Both have a purpose, both are delightful and both cause different reactions. I must admit I busted myself laughing at Kenny (the toilet expo...) but Ten Canoes had me feeling sorry for that poor boy long after the film ended...be careful of what you wish for...

are you kidding me. How can you even compare these films. Aussie Btw. Kenny was utter... hmmm looking for a word that wouldn't become some ridiculous pun... no... ok... crap... no pun intended. It was supposed to be charming, but it was toilet humour, nothing more, nothing less, it was over an hour of my life I can never get back. Ten canoes was original, beautifully shot and the characters were fantastic. no comparison. screw the universal feel, if they'd rather watch two hours of port-a-loo jokes, that's their choice.

I'm an Aussie.

Kenny is one of my favourite movies... and I detested Ten Canoes. There was never anything keeping my interest during Ten Canoes. Kenny is funny, charming and entertaining. The toilet humour is always hilarious and there is always something interesting happening.

For me, it's Kenny. To each his own.

Mates we're talking apples and oranges here.

They are quite different films and perhaps not aimed at the same markets.
