The anime, not so good...

Yeah, it doesn't help that I'm watching the dub... but even the elements that were initially in the japanese anime are terrible in this series. I love the manga, but I just now watched the anime, and I gotta say I'm seriously dissapointed. Terrible production values, crappy music; I think flash artists have more skill than the folks behind this. Maybe I just need to watch more episodes, but I gotta say my feelings right now towards the anime are at a very low disposition.

The sub is not much better. It's just a cheesy anime, and I can say that because, unfortunately, I've watched most of it. And you know how many Naruto and Bleach fans complain of filler? Well, this anime is about 50% filler, and strangely the fangirls love it. It's not even halfway good filler, like in Bleach. It's very cringe-worthy stuff. Very fanservice-y and corny. Much of it contradicts the manga directly, too.

About the only thing bad about the dub is that all the voices sound the same. Interestingly, I read Johnny Yong Bosch is taking over Fuji's voice, so I wonder if that will help improve things. Several of the other VAs worked on Bleach as well, and Bleach is not so bad, so I wonder why this is not as great. Maybe as time goes on, it will get better, as I've heard said about Naruto.

yes Ryoma in the anime does lose a game (Sanada anime only and Tezuka and the Fudomine doubles team in manga) but he has never lost an official game meaning in any of the competitions.
