I've seen all the movies it references and I think it's funny. Some of the original films' scenes were slightly awful, like the song in My Best Friends Wedding. When you see it in this film it's just cringe-worthy. You can't help but laugh at how bad it is. The other thing is it's clever how it weaves all the different movies into one. If people don't like this movie it's not the movies fault. It's a perfectly acceptable movie for this style of film. There's nothing wrong with it. Whenever it's on TV I watch it. I always watch Jaws when it's on TV to. It's just some movies I like to see every time they're on. Bad Santa is on this week, I watch it every year. Date Movie is just a silly little romp through lots of movies about dating.

I don't think it's quite as bad as the reviews let it on to be. I have seen worse movies that are ranked much MUCH higher.

I'd give it a 3 out of 10 -where a 1 equals totally unwatchable, a 2 is something you can sit through but with a feeling of having been molested afterwards and a 3 being nothing less or nothing more than a movie that does not make you want to blow up the universe all through it's duration.

Some scenes are horrible, some are annoying, most are bad but some are OK.
If you start watching this movie expecting mental stimuli you are way overdue for a psychiatric evaluation! :D
Lower your standards before watching it. Expect to be underwhelmed.
