Hi I have to disagree with most of you. I find the Disney sequels rather entertaining, most of them anyway. Now Atlantis II wasn't that great, however most peple hated Cinderella2 I on the other hand thought it was great. The same as Little Mermaid II, Lion King 2 and 1.5 as well as the hunchback series, pocahontas, series and the lady and the tramp, peter pan, jungle book, dalmatians, and stitch stuff. I know theres more, and personally I can't get enough of them. So go ahead and get your crosses out, and your nails. I am willing to sacrafice my moey to disney to make more and more sequels. I am personally looking forward to Fox and the Hound II, the same way I am looking forward to DumboII, and Cinderella3, and the Little Mermaid III. also Brother Bear II Well thats just me though. Please let me hear your gripes. LOL
What...WHAT?! You liked that joke of a film "Hunchback of Notre Dame 2?" It took one of the deepest and probably one of the smartest Disney films ever made and watered it down to the point where I didn't even know what I was watching.
The fact is that Disney sequels are garbage. They take perfectly good movies and turn them into mindless drivel to appease the masses. Listen, The Godfather/Toy Story formula doesn't work for ALL movies. It's about time the people at Disney figured that out
Kindness...A little bit of it goes a very long way.
I agree with you I loved the Aladdin sequels and Beauty and The Beast christmas movie. I didn't like Peter Pan 2 for some reason and thought that the Hunchback of Notra Dame 2 was blan and I didn't like the addition of a Scrappy Doo-esque kid. I love all the other sequels though every other one rocks. I really want to see Brother Bear 2 and all the rest.
I'm kinda worried about Little Mermaid 3 since I jokenly said "In the first little mermaid the mermaid wanted to become human and in the second the daughter of the first mermaid who is human wants to become a mermaid. What's next is Ariel going to have a merhuman that lives in the sewer."
I liked Lion King 2 as well and lady and the tramp but I'm sorry but Lion King 1.5 was a slap dash movie, and was boring and did not live up too the other two.
I saw The Rescuers Down Under a long time ago, and I think I liked that one. Now Disney sequels like Little Mermaid 2 and Cinderella 2, I haven't seen those, but I already know I wouldn't care for them. Disney...don't they know when enough is enough?
I don't totally agree with that. Classic Disney movies were made after Walt Disney died. Lion King, Aladdin, Little Mermaid. . . . all those great 90 disney movies were made after Disney died.
When are they gonna learn that adding a *beep* 2 or a 3 to a movie does not making the movie any more appealing. Take The Land Before Time as an example. What the *beep* could be so interesting about these stupid dinosaurs that they would make 12 movies about them? I don't want to see what it's gonna be like 20 years from now, The Land Before Time XXXIIII. And from what I hear they are supposed to make a tv series about it. It's so gay. The only people who buy those stupid movies are parents who want the tv to babysit their kids. So they buy any kids movie no matter how crappy it is. Poor kids.
Well, the sequels aren't generally targeted for the same audiences. They're more "backwater" disney titles. The Big name stories are always released in theatres, and get lots of hype and promotion from Disney. These sequals are generally fairly low key and get a straight to video deal. These are more so for small kids in preschool, not neccesarily classics that will live up to the great stories that the orignals weave.
But yes, most of these sequals generally are not fantastic, I'l give you that. Reason being is that the orignals are complete stories. Everything is wrapped up in the end. Sequals to these movies are afterthoughts that have just been tacked on by the finance devision of Disney to make a little more ca-ching-ca-ching. There's just not anymore story left for the characters or in the world that they reside, so Disney has to stretch a movie with some weak story line with new characters that can't hold a candle to the Originals.
OMFG! I can't believe this! Disney you you can reads this, I hope you die of bird flu and burn in Hell. How dare you ruin one of the BEST animated movies I grew up with.
i hope disney doesn't ruin this movie. because in my opinion the fox & the hound is one of the top disney movies. its such a sweet movie. i'm 15 & i still love watching it.
There is one advantage to being me. something you can never imitate, having you for a friend.
Has anyone seen the episode of Saturday Night Lives TV Funhouse where the kids go into the disney vault with all the crappy disney sequels. And then this comes out? That's hilarious.
And I guess The Fox and the Hound will never be the same after watching a bad sequel about it like many bad sequels...
Lion King 2 and 3 were OK, also Arielle 2, but nothing more.... No Pocahontas and no cinderella, no jungle book and no mulan... every sequel was damn bad.
Lion King 2 and Lady and the Tramp 2 were okay. Other than those two I really don't think there are any other good sequels. They should really quit making them.
Sorry to burst your bubble conor-56, but all of those movies you named rated very good. & I think its very judgemental of you to talk crap about those movies. You don't have to like them personally, but you have NO reason to trash movies all over 7.
it seems like after arounf 1996 every movie that Disney has made has been bad. Almost any good one now has been with Pixar. Disney needs to STOP making direct to video movies!!! This like the 20th one. They need to start making movies that are quality enough to get into the theater
no no, booboo9182, I like to say that they stopped being great arounf 98-99. There was, pretty much a full decade of new classics from 89 to 99. (at least the theactricaly released films.)
now the sequels, yes. Ill agree most of them are bad. The ones I do like are LK 2 and LK 1 1/2 (I actually liked it more then LK2). Then to a lesser extent Mulan II and Hunchback II. I'm not sure about Little Mermaid II, since I haven't seen it in a while. I thought I liked the sequels to Aladdin, but my taste has apparently changed since they first came out.
Mater: I knowed I'd made a good choice. McQueen: In what? Mater: My best friend. -Cars
Goddammit I *beep* hate you disney honest to god you guys are whores for money how dare you ruin art pieces like the classics I hate you art isnt to be change added to or altered, becuase then you ruin what the artist was trying to express or get at. fricking idiots your going to ruin my favorite childhood film and turn it into some redneck trailortrash country rock band singing bullsh&T fest with java the foxworthy I hate you I hate you disney burn in hell!
