I can see it now...

The son of Tod and Vixey falls in love with the daughter of Copper and some other hound, named Dixie.

This is going to be awful!

reply

whoa.. that would be freaky, a fox in love with a hound? lol

reply

yay! Inter-species breeding! XD

reply

pity...it's a biological impossibility. Interesting if that was the case. But is it just me or is this starting to sound like some twisted anthropomorphized soap opera?

reply

a hound dog and a fox? that whould be the weirdest baby ive ever seen.

Actually foxes don't mate with any other animal, even in the canine group. Different chromosomes if you look it up. Is anyone an IMDb pro member? I wish I could read the movie description... : \

though they are all in fact canines, Foxes are of the species Vulpes, whereas Dogs are of the species Canis Lupis Familiaris or by some opinions, just canis Familiaris. This translates into a difference in chromosome counts as corestalker has already said.

In the unlikely event that natural copulation was to occur between these species, and in the near impossiblilty of fertilization, the resulting "dog-fox" would be infertile. If you want a Foxy-Dog, go for the japanese Shiba-inu, a dog with shockingly "foxy" qualities.

shut up shut up shut up

i dont wanna think about disneys damn new breed of crud and ruining my favorite movie

reply

LMAO This thread has made my day.

reply

What the hell! no way! I'm not gonna see Tod's son breed with Copper's daughter and have one huge ugly looking retarded fox dog. I think Dixie is just another character who probably is the daughter of Tod and Vixey.

reply

jorbla,,
nothing with a fox in the mixture could possibly be ugly

Dude, when did this start to be a talk about hybrids? not that they aren't cool, my favs are the ligers. Anyway, I'm getting out of the subject.

reply

Hmm, so in the sequel, a hound and fox falls in love and gets a child together...?

Then the 3rd one could focus on the childs live - the movie itself could be called "THE THING", or maybe "THE INBREED".

Oh, btw. I was being sarcastic... The whole thing about Disney making all these stupid sequels, is absurd... But it's all about money.
Poor stupid Disney..... Walt must be rolling in his grave, as we speak.

OK here is the story I saw from the preview on Bambi 2.!!!

Dixie is a country irish setter dog singer. Copper and Todd are kids ( you know it's going to be bad) and they head off to a Fair and Copper hangs out with these country singer dogs and joins, Todd gets jealous and argues about it with him. and I believe the whole story is about them getting back together.... yea...

Who is Dixie?
Dixie is only the coolest character in either Fox and the Hound film, at least impo, and she struck me immediately as a Saluki (mix?). Which is a dog breed, btw. ^_~

Edit: Ooh, long time since I came here! Well…I don’t want to drag up any old discussions. So I’ll just place my opinion here (though it responds directly to the message below.)

I know Rita's a Saluki.
She and Dixie are rather similar, and I still firmly think Dix is at least part Saluki. (I do think she's probably a mix.) Cartoon style, yes, but still. The tight close lips and slender face and all, short coat except for ears and tail, so on and so forth...she has the look, at least I believe so. Indeed, nothing is a perfect match, but that was the only thing I could picture when I saw her. ("Whoo, another apparently Saluki-based character they definitely won't label as such!" xD)

Incredibly poofy her tail may be, but NO dog has a tail like that, so it's almost a moot point--though given that it's so long and flexible, I can see the similarity to a very heavily feathered 'luki's.

Honestly, the ears are the only thing about her overall that could also possibly suggest a setter to me, though of course they're also modeled somewhat on *human* hair (and color the only Golden Retriever-like thing, but Salukis come in gold too, or just about anything.) Really, she doesn't remind me of either of those breeds! But then, she's a mixed breed in all likelihood, so you don't need to pick just one, and I could see her having those in her...or others...maybe some Spaniel or something. And hey, opinions can be different. The dog characters are probably not supposed to be anything in particular, anyway.

Anyway, point is (if anyone ever actually looks at this again)...in response to the message below...definitely Saluki, yep.

reply

Nope, there's no way Dixie is a Saluki... I mean, really. Look at her tail. Poofy. Look at her head and how her jaw sits... Definitely an Irish Setter mix. And the ears. I would say she has a bit of Golden Retriever in there as well. If you want to know what a Saluki looks like in Disney form, look at Rita in Oliver & Company.

reply

Yup. She joined the Animated Saluki Club! 😊
