What Happened to Cinderella?!

I really love this sequel, because I enjoy suspense. "Cinderella II: Dreams Come True" was totally tedious and pointless, that it should have never been released! This should have been called "Cinderella II!"
Anyway, it has been a while and when I saw the first movie again, I just could not believe how sweet and innocent Cinderella was! She even treated her own stepmother and stepsisters with respect, despite that they were so mean to her! Cinderella's voice was so beautiful when she sang "A Dream is a Wish" and "So This is Love," without hitting any high notes, unlike in this one when she (portrayed by Jennifier Hale) sang "More Than a Dream!" Please, she complimented Jaq and Gus on a good job they did destroying the kitchen for a distraction! She used to have a soft face, but now it has gotten determined! Like this:

"Hmph! Well, if it was that easy...who needs that thing?"

maybe shes trying to change her additude.

Have you even seen any of the pictures above?! Can you compare any expessions to Cinderella's mood, like when she told Stepmother "I am not going to let you get away with this!" (her French voice-actress said it more firmly!) or "Bad kitty!" (in the Spanish version, she called him "Gato tonto!" which means "Dumb cat!")

"Hmph! Well, if it was that easy...who needs that thing?"

Technically, three nice stories but I get your point.

if someone made youre husband forget your existance, then brainwash him into loving another, and also turned back time. i'd grow a spine as quicxkly as i could. also the cute as pie routine in the first cindrella, really annoyed me

um, exacty what is a "cute as pie routine" and what one are you talking about? Did you maybe see Tangled or The Little Mermaid or Snow White and somehow mistake them for this? Because to anyone who saw Cinderella they would see a realistic optimist who resents the trials she is given but is strong enough to try to overcome them no matter how frustrated she is.

Cinderella probably got tougher because what her stepmother did was quite dispicable and plain cruel, even for what Cinderella usually put up with. First, Cinderella watches as her mean stepsister is taken to marry the prince when she knows the truth quite well, and when she tries to tell the stepmother, the stepmother just smashes the other slipper and coldly tells her to clean it up.

Then, over the course of the movie, the stepmother tries to have Cinderella banished, killed in a runaway pumpkin (I'd also say "Bad Kitty!" if Lucifer were trying to drive me off of a cliff and nearly killed the only two people helping me out), enchants Cinderella's one true love, makes her own daughter a double to essentially steal her place, and tries to turn both Cinderella and Anastasia into toads.

I really don't blame Cindy for stepping up and I applaude her for it in fact. I appreciate her kindness and sweet temper in the first movie, but it's still nice to see that she can stand up for herself and fight back should the need arise, rather than depend on others.

The real reason is when the films were made - the original Cinderella was made 60 years ago. Back then it was in fashion for the heroines to be sweet and passive. Now we like our female leads to be more pro-active and stand up for themselves. Just look at the difference between Snow White and Mulan. It’s also why the Prince gets a personality makeover as well - he’s boring in the original by today’s standards.

Um, Snow white is a boss ad Mulan is kind of an unmotivated crybaby. Snow takes charge and is confident and outspoken and Mulan is an insecure pessimist who lets people intimidate her, so logically, you should adore Snow and dislike Mulan.

Also, nothing wrong with being, as you say, passve (or sweet... last I checked so are Ariel, Mulan, Rpaunzel, etc) by which I assume you mean they do not idiotically run off into adventures face-first like all of today's save for Belle and Tiana and Mulan do. They were smart, strong women who didn't need to be self-serving or aggressive. They made them better back then.

Funny you guys think taking charge is so great... if telling off and defeating their oppressors is so great, well, they arent really so great to be oppressed to begin with, are they?
