Are there any Disney movies yet to be 'sequel-i-fied'?

Seriouusley! Like every major original Disney movie has a sequel. Can you name one (a classic- nothing like "Home on the Range") that doesn't have a sequel? All I can think of is "Hercules".

reply

Um, Pinoccio didn't have a sequel! Neither did Robin Hood! I can name lots of Disney classics!

reply

I suposse I forgot a few... haha

reply

Don't forget the rest of the list.

Snow White
Make Mine Music
Melody Time
Adventures of Ichabod and Mr.Toad
Alice in Wonderland
Sleeping Beauty
Sword in the Stone
Aristocats
Robin Hood (mentioned)
Black Cauldron
Great Mouse Detective
Oliver and Co
Hercules
Treasure Planet
Home on the Range

I think that covers most of the classics

LOL

However give them time they're only one company they can't make all the sequels we want in one day. Jeeze people, I know sequels mean alot to us all but give them time. LOL... ok bring out the guns.

reply

You forgot to add Pinocchio, Dumbo, Saludos Amigos and The Three Caballeros to that list. :) There, now it's complete.

reply

Thank you for the rest of the list, I knew there was some I was forgetting.
However Dumbo is having a sequel. Check out www.animatednews.com it has alot of cool stuff on there. They mention that Dumbo II is back on the slate.
And believe it or not on the commentary to saludous amigos it states that
Saludous Amigos was a seuel to the Three Cabaleros. I am not sure how accurate that is. However please feel free to correct me.
Thanks again for the list.

Well Hercules has a tv-series so that kind of counts...

Disney studios has completely lost track of what Walt Disney intended when he started making animated films. To never go back and retell an old story (he specifically said NO to a SW sequel). These days Disney is about making money. It really sucks.

Know it's better to say that any recent Disney movies that dont have sequels those are all older movies. SOme sequels are good but some ruin the first story!!

they are in production for Dumbo 2 (see bonus features on dumbo 2)

reply

a lot of those are re-makes of other movies or animated versions of stories that have been told time-and-time again.. so they don't really need a sequel 'cause they already made extra money of a successful idea... Disney barely does something that hasn't already been done before. not since the early Walt days have I seen anything "new" come with a Disney sticker on it.. except the Pixar movies but they aren't really disney are they? im not saying they make bad movies/films atall they are succesful at what they do. they know how to take a familiar story and make it seem new for the viewing audience

reply

[deleted]

Don't give them ideas. Disney's lost its touch majorly. All they have left are remakes and sequels.

reply

Now that John Lasseter is coming in as head of Disney Animation, do you think he'll put a stop to all the unnessesary sequels???

reply

i like the sequels it puts and extra story to legendary characters that i have grown to love. seeing what happened next is quite amusing and always intresting. i am getting sick of you guys complaining thats for sure if you dont like the idea of sequels just dont watch them and stop questioning disneys motives!

Captian Hook:If I were you, I'd give up
Peter Pan: If you were me I'd be ugly!

reply

they are running out of ideas, tinkieebelliee if we wanna bash it then we will and if you didn't wanna hear people complain then why did you read it in the first place?

Noah:you tell me when im arrogant sob i tell you when your a pain in the ass which ur99%of the time

reply

i only write to stress my point about the disney sequls and try to turn a few heads toward the idea. everyone just hates all of them and i dont see why because i enjoy hearing about them coming out and am first in line to pick up my copy. i dont get why everyones so against the idea of continuing the classics. i love to see the next chapter. and some a quite enjoyable. and disney isnt running out of ideas they got all the high tech computer animation junk coming out so why not go back now and make sometimes quality renditions of the classics we have all grown to love!

Captian Hook:If I were you, I'd give up
Peter Pan: If you were me I'd be ugly!

reply

You forgot Bedknobs and Broomsticks. Now THAT is a true Disney classic, and they never dared touch it for a sequel (this is a very good thing). How many of you haven't even heard of it? I promise, it's an amazing movie, if a little old. If nothing else it is lasting proof that Angela Lansbury (Mrs. Potts, to name another Disney charachter she played) was indeed young once.

reply

sequels dont really bother me if they at least decent but alot of them are not so they just need to be more selective. Brother Bear two might end up to be good, but we will have to wait and see

reply

There is actually a site that has a list of all the disney movies and some of the rumors of movies in the future. You will be surprised (maybe not) to know that for 99% of the movies that were listed on here most of them are on the rumors list for sequals, and the ones with sequals, they are trying to do thirds for. Here is the site if you want to take a look at the list.

uh huh, tell that to all the workers for disney who would rather have disney be "righteous" for a medium you dont have to watch and get layed off to keep the company afloat.

reply

I don't really mind when they make sequels of the more recent films, like Toy Story, or Brother Bear, but when they go back and take older movies and make sequels- like Cinderella, Little Mermaid, The Aristocrats, Peter Pan- that's wrong. Especially Cinderella 2- they're no longer even French.. wtf.. Jack the mouse as opposed to Jacque? No thank you.

Personally I love disney sequels and if they go over board than I have the choice not to watch it. However there are many die hard fans out there who love as many sequels as possible.
I think I fall in that category.
Well thats just my oppinion

Shhhhh! You shouldn't rant! Disney execs might get wind of this, and make even MORE sequels just to spite you!!!

*smiles* J/k, I really do feel your pain. I very nearly cried when I saw the page for Little Mermaid III here. Ditto with Fox and the Hound 2 and Cinderella III (though the ladder does look the slightest bit intriguing..). The best we can do is boycott, and even then it won't help much, considering the way most parents cling to these movies so their children will have SOME semblance of normalcy in this age of CGI bs. *shrugs* As long as they don't touch Sleeping Beauty and Snow White (although they already kinda did with the ladder..), I won't form a mad lynching party. *smiles* Have hope, my fellow Classic Disney-lovers.

This is really depressing.

While BB wasn't exactly my favourite, it's really d. to see sequel made before the Disney watching public in general has had time to digest the original.

I wouldn't mind if they made a tv series, I could live with that somehow but to make up sequels (usually paying little regard to the original storyline, thus leaving large plotholes) is the last straw!

I'm taking my business elsewhere...

There is a sequel to Snow White:

It's not Disney though so I guess it's an 'unofficial' sequel.
