My opinion on the whole 'single movie' DVD of the show

I seriously don't think this will happen. It'll be almost impossible to put a 4-hour movie with extras on one disc. Think about it:

1. If they actually do that, it'll definitely be a single disc. I mean, seriously, do you want to watch one half of a movie, then have to get up, take the disc out of the DVD player, put it back in the case, take the other disc out, and then put the second one in the DVD player to watch the rest of it?

2. What the hell is going to happen to the episode Araphull? You know, the episode where three fourths of it are just parts of the title sequence set to a lot of songs? That episode was funny as hell, and I don't want it to be taken out just to show the part where the Peanut Cop gets the fireman hat.

3. If it is one disc, I don't want it to double sided either. I hate those DVDs a lot. They're easy to get scratched, and their lack of disc art makes them look ugly.

4. DVDs don't have that much capacity in them. This DVD is going to have extras. There was a fan art thing on the Adult Swim Message Boards where people who posted 12 oz. Mouse fan art might have gotten it featured on the DVD. Then there's the extra footage, and the 4-hour movie (that includes Enter the Sandmouse and the extra footage). It will not fit on one disc, trust me.

5. Do you really want to see 12 oz. Mouse as a 4-hour long movie? Do you?

Consider all 5 of these things.

I just want the episodes as singular. One long film would defeat the purpose of watching it. I would prefer just 10 minute episodes.

Exactly.

Erm, when you shave off all the title sequences and end credits (bar one at the beginning and end respectively) it comes to just over 3 hours, not 4. I got tired of waiting for the DVD and did it myself, edited all the episodes together back-to-back with a few transitions.

Secondly, a dual-layer (not double-sided) DVD can hold 9gb of storage space. King Kong (remake) is a longer film and that got squeezed on to one disc. They could always have a second disc if need-be for extras, depending on how many they have. If it's just a commentary track and a making of, that could easily be packed onto one disc.

Also, it's much better watched as one long film, the plot is a lot more coherant. Definately beats waiting a whole week between episodes, by which point you've forgot the subtleties from the last - and OzMo has a lot of them.

i read somewhere they were making some new material to bridge the episodes a little better in the movie format. but it still would be shorter than a lot of movies i've seen squeezed onto dvd's.

but what happened to this dvd? wasn't it supposed to come out in january or something?

I had to switch DVDs in Pearl Harbor. Why did I watch Pearl Harbor?

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! omg!!! get up and change the DVD???? AHHHHHH at you least you can grab another bag of chips and a soda on your way up, right?

reply

seriously who cares if you have to change the dvd. a big movie version would be awesome especially if they added new scenes to bridge the episode. you are litterally bitching about them giving us a little bit of new scenes we havnt seen of this great show and we'll probably never get anything else new from it again.

"Auraphyll' is the worst *beep* episode they've done, I wouldn't miss it for a second. What was the POINT with it?!
