One of the most underrated films in cinematic history...

This film just gets better and better with every viewing. The script, the acting, the cinematography, the lighting, the score, the mood, the bone-chilling murder scene, the climactic ending. Brilliant from top to bottom!

Wow, what a jerk. The OP happens to be correct.

And pray tell, how does a movie run for Best Picture? Does it lobby for votes? Does it debate other movies? Does it need a running mate?

Talk about stupid. Go look in the mirror.

it pretty much does lobby for votes tbf

I'm a contradiction 

Uh yes lol -- see: Shakespeare in Love beating Saving Private Ryan for Best Picture.

Totally agree. 'Micheal Clayton' is one of those rare films in Hollywood nowadays that has excellence written all over it. Clooney's performance was incredible. I also love the kind of noirish atmosphere.

You know, I like the way you put this: "kind of" noir-ish atmosphere. *That's* what unforgettable about the film, because strictly speaking, it is not noir but a thriller. The noir element resides totally in the character of Michael Clayton, who remains morally ambiguous until the final scene.

I agree. One reason why I love it is that it has very subtle realism in the movie. From dialogue written the way real people talk. From small things like Michael's brother taking a gun out of a lock box before he goes to work(99% of movies would have him pull it out from under a pillow or already have it in his holster hanging in the closet). The murder scene in the movie is incredibly well done and believable.

Just small subtle things that make it one of my all-time favorites. Not to mention great performances all around. Even the character actors are great in it like Denis O'Hare.

When it first came out I thought it was like a boring Law and Order episode.

However, once I grew up a bit and started to notice how movies are made, it really proved itself to be a top shelf legal thriller.

I agree. And I'll add a pretty unique and interesting villain.
