From reading the trivia, it is clear that Gens was canned at the last second and the film was re-edited (and some scenes re-shot) to make it more like what the studio wanted.

I think it'd be interesting to see a version of the film that Gens did before it was messed with. Most notably, I am curious to see the original train platform sequence which was regarded as a standout scene by both the director and one of the actors.

Any thoughts? Also, I wonder if such a version exists, or will exist?

Agreed. The studio *beep* this movie up, so badly. It saddens me.

Xavier Gens said on an interview that he has his Director's Cut on his PC :) But I don't know what could be done for him to release it to public. Maybe we should make a petition?

I woudl be up for that. I think on the french version on dvd/bluray it has all the scenes that were ommited including an alternate ending with 47 posing as a doctor and killing Olga. Also the alternate train station bit without the fight with the other assassins.

Would love to see a cut of this without the Dark Angel titles too.

Yes indeed the french blu-ray features these scenes but only as deleted material.

I would love to see a director's cut with those scenes back in.

The deleted material is quite interesting.

Some scenes are simply extended but feature much more violence.

Some scenes are all new (including major alternate scenes) and they would improve the movie greatly.

The train station scene in particular is much, much better thant the idiotic train fight from the theatrical cut. It is quick, violent, similar in tone and style to classic thrillers like "Get Carter".

It is obvious that the director's cut would have been much more coherent than the finished product, and much closer to the original games.

This studio cut is probably one the worst botch jobs of recent years.

Yeah this movie was totally butchered. Maybe if they let Xavier Gens do as he wanted, without editing his work afterwards, Hitman wouldn't have sucked so much.

the studio behind this movie ruined it with edits so SHOCKING. this is why some directors have there own production company. to avoid the hassle of a compromised script
