This was a really sad drama, not much romance.

Simpleton script, bad cast, no plot, story goes absolutely nowhere, mediocre to outright bad acting. Boring and just barely mischievous boys, boy loves girl, girl leaves boy, Catholic orphanage, horse ala black beauty, cancer, circus performer along with stereotypical wrongly injured partner.

Every movie cliché in the book tossed in.....

If present time is 2007 and the guys at the end are way over 60 years old, then this sad pathetic tale was set in late 1940's.

Really!

WTF? What are all the American mid 1960's music and '60;s soundtrack doing in a film set in Australia of the late 1940's??

This disorganized mess of a movie barely deserves a 1 out of a 10.

Yea I turned the DVD off after about 45 minutes. Absolutely nothing was happening but a bunch of boys running around. Literally.

It was just...uncompelling to watch. Though I *was* touched by a few scenes, and I kind of liked the chemistry between Maps and Lucy(before it was abruptly cut off. Meh)
Script was blah, and the characters aren't magnetic at all, unlike, say, the boys of "Stand By Me"?
I mostly enjoyed looking at Radcliffe(hey, am still a woman after all XD)

Very boring movie. Bad acting and plot.

The "plot" had potential but fell short. I was really looking forward to seeing this movie....

And was bored through almost the entire thing.

There were so many things that could have been done better. I think I was most disappointed in the character developement.....there was none.

I'm normally overly-emotional when it comes to dramas, etc., but this movie didn't make me care about any of the characters.....not even the 4 boys, which should have been the main target. By the end, it just didn't matter to me if ANY of them got adopted, because the movie makers failed to make me feel anything for them. Sounds cruel, but it's the truth.

Maybe when you mature a bit more and understand the various themes in the film, then you'll appreciate it more. Until then, stick to the teenybopper films that don't have any substance to them whatsoever....

Wow, what an immature and completely ignorant opinion. I guess someone is jealous because he/she didn't come up with it first. Typical arrogance--you should see a professional about that.

Yeah, it wasn't bad at all, but I was just, let down. I guess I'm just used to Dan as a British orphan and not an Australian orphan. None of the characters seemed to really have any chemistry together.

Pretty good movie. The ending was slightly unbelievable only because it is unexpected for a child to have such maturity and strength. I did not find the movie boring. It didn't keep me on the edge of my seat because of violence, but it made me think and I connected with the characters. I thought the boys were realistic. I'll watch the movie again. 7/10
