finally checking this one out. ? Though

I never got to watch this one and heard good things but since it stopped in season 2 and then was cancelled I lost interest. I'm still kind of wondering while on episode 2 if I should.
Does it end totally in the middle of the storyline or do I have to imagine that it is the end of the show after the season 2 finale??
I know this will hurt the experience big time but I'm watching any way. Also does it being cancelled have anything to do with Homeland ?? It would seem almost certainly that is the reason but then again I never knew anything about it and it was gone as quickly as it started. Shows like this are very easily forgotten with only 2 seasons and an abrupt 2nd one at that.
