Much more Muslim friendly than Homeland

I wonder if this is the reason it didn't make it. Homeland was played up to the hilt: advertising, Emmy awards, etc., whereas this show didn't seem to get any promotion from what I've read so far. It was on every night?? I would think that would kill it all by itself.

You really think it's more muslim friendly? Granted I just started season 2 but I don't see any muslims, other than Darwyn and that one lecturer, portrayed as anything more than animals that need to be put down.

It raw, authentic and different in comparison. Homeland is a bit conservative and on its way of becoming a 24 clone. The show was focus on fundamental Terror. So it rarely focused on good practicing muslims. This opened my eyes to the beauty of Islam and its war with its image in the media.

Homeland presents an inept CIA willing to throw an excellent agent under the bus just to save its corrupt ass. The CIA is a target because it attacked a town and murdered children. I'd hardly consider that a "conservative" POV. The only muslim we get to know is a gray character. Homeland, however, allows us to see many fleshed out muslim characters with all but one being an evil psycho. I saw no beauty in Islam, only confirmed stereotypes.

It plays as propaganda for the War on Terrorism. It doesn give the same weight to its Fundamental characters as the CIA intelligence officers. Season 3 shows how much out ideas with all the familiar 24 machinations they are using.

Fitz...ur on this...I didn't think it would be your style.

s1 just finished on TV here...never figured this would be really much of a S2 renewal proposition.

reply

Really? Why? I loved this show! Suck it was only 2 seasons.

Sleeper Cell gives a more sympathetic portrayal of its terrorist characters and does a better job of demonstrating/explaining where their motivations come from in comparison to Homeland.

Also, Sleeper Cell does better to avoid the stereotype of middle easterners as terrorists.

You think Homeland was "Muslim friendly"?
