Popcultured Stinks!

I think the show stinks but I want to have a serious discussion about it here as to WHY it stinks. What does everybody think is the most serious problem with the show? Maybe even rank different problems in order of which you think are the worst problems.
My guess would be
1. writing
2. Elvira Kurt's hosting
3. the other talent on the show
4. the interview guests aren't very good
5. the director/producers/production quality
Maybe it has something to do with not enough funding too? Or they didn't put much time into it? Anybody have any idea? It seems that pretty much everybody really dislikes the show but I'd like to have a real discussion about it here and not just a bunch of messages saying "Popcultured Sucks" if that is possible...

I think that the show is funny and Elvira Kurt is not a bad comedian, I think it's a fairly new show without a lot of funding. If it does better than maybe they can get more funding and/or with more time evolve. I mean Stargate wasn't a terrific show when it came out but once the chemistry was established and they found what the audience wants more of it will get better.

Okay, have fun watching the worst show ever! Don't forget to take your pills and put on your helmet. You'll need to be wearing that special helmet for when they tell one of their hilarious jokes that makes you laugh so hard that you fall down.

I love when Elvira stands there for 20 seconds with that embarassed smile on her face waiting for the audience to start laughing. What a horrible show. I never liked her stand-up, and I hate this show. I've only watched about 4 episodes and I'm never going to watch it again. God, I'm embarassed to be Canadian.

LOL that's awesome!

God, this show is absolutely horrible. In every damn way. She's not funny at all, the writing is fantastically horrid (Whoever thought saying "Monster-in-law" instead of "Mother-in-law" is funny should have their eyes gouged out), and they use high-school amateur drama class hacks to do the most nightmare-inducing pile of crap that I've ever seen. What we SHOULD do is, after the show gets off the air (as a result of...certain acts that best not be revealed here), is infiltrate the Comedy Central offices and destroy any remains or evidence that the show ever even existed, and exile all those who utter the word "Popcultered", think about it (for it results in violent behavior) or anybody who have ever been on the show into the empty voids of the Australian deserts. They then will form their own civilization based upon the memory of the show, and eventually will become the next superpower with Elvira as their ruthless dictator, and she will bring about chaos and pestilence to all. And thus is the fate of the world, all thanks to Popcultured. THANKS A LOT, POPCULTURED.

All in all I find the worst portions of the show aren't usually Elvira Kurt, who probably has the best delivery of anybody else on the show (and that says a lot...sigh). It's those damn "co-anchors", especially the manic blonde and the kid who also does or did CBC's "The X". Like somebody else said about hands guestures and overracting, the blonde basically talks with a stupid grin on her face and either yells or doesn't blink. The kid is just a smug tool. Neither of them get laughs. As to being a knock-off of the Daily Show, I'm going to agree. The Comedy Network was looking for a new show last winter, and naturally the knock-off of the most popular comedy news program gets green-lighted. Cue signing all the Canadian stand-ups that appeared on Comedy Now... Bastards.

I think everything about the show kind of works together to make the show BAD, you know what I mean? I think that is seems like all the different parts of the show are really bad (including the writing and Elvira and the other people in the cast and director). So that means that say like on other shows if there is a bad actor or bad writing maybe a host is so good it makes up for it? But if everything is done badly like I think it is on Popcultured there is no way for them to fix their show in another area of the episode.

reply

u cant fix a turd.
pop cultured is a pile of crap and the only thing ot do with a pile of crap is scrape it up with a shovel and dump it in the sewer where it belongs.

reply

So I take it you don't like the show either, LOL

reply

Does anybody? Seriously has anybody on this board ever actually met somebody who watches the show and likes it? All I've heard and all I've read (except for a few anonymous internet posts) tell me that this show is pretty much universally despised.

reply

EVERYTHING IS WRONG WITH POPCULTURED WITH ELVIRA KURT!

reply

Who cares why it stinks? It just does so they should get it off the air. This show is puke.

reply

It seems to me that Elvira knows her show is bad, hence the off-key joke delivery. It's as if in her head she is saying, "This joke is so bad, I'm just going to say it, smile, and hope somebody laughs."

reply

i would agree with that hylander04. i try the show out again every week or so to see if they changed the format or something but it is still the same and i don't like their comedy.
i can see why so many of you dislike the show so much but "hate" is a strong word to use.

reply

Popcultured does stink right through the airwaves.
