She needs to work on her interviewing skills

Ever notice how Martha cuts people off when she asks them a question? It's like

Martha: So what was your inspiration for writing this book?
Person: Well, actually I...
Martha: Where did you grow up?
Person: I grew up in...
Martha: Thank you. Coming up next, I'll make an eyeball tree.

Well I imagine it's a lot to have to deal with, interviewing while cooking something and explaining the recipe. She does ok at it but I think people just expect it from her because....well, she's Martha! We love her!

It's really hard to interview someone while you're trying to give a demonstration on how to cook something. Because Martha will ask a question and then the person will try to answer and she'll have to cut them off in order to give the next direction. It makes for an awkward interview.

She's getting better though I think. By next season she'll be a pro

But...did anyone notice how she kept her mouth shut more than ever when Elaine Stritch was on? I think someone told Martha that Elaine can take center stage and hold it better than anyone - and not to get in her way. :) I also liked when Martha sheepishly apologized for missing her cabaret show, to which Elaine firmly replied, "Well, you have two more weeks, honey...."

I only watch the show occasionally and for the most part I think she does a good job. The interview today with Bonnie Hunt was very funny. I've noticed her cut people off a little bit but every talk show host has to do that to stay on time. Jay Leno cut off Orlando Bloom last night because time was running out. It comes with the territory. I actually really like the format of Martha's show and I think she comes off as a nice person to chat with.

It's so constant that I'm surprised a guest hasn't said something to her. The only thing more annoying is that she talks when others talk. It's not even about giving direction, she's trying to comment on what someone is saying before they finish saying it. The only reason she's still on is because she's Martha. Anyone else would have been fired by now. She can only get better because she can't possibly get worse.

Her show is boring. She doesn't have the zip to compete with the other daytime hosts. She would do better to go back to her old format in syndication.

I agree. ^^^^
