Kuzco's voice?

Why isn't David Spade doing Kuzco's voice?! I like it way more in the Emperor's New Groove.
Tell me if I'm the only one thinking this...

You're definitely not the only one who misses David Spade.
I'm not sure why he didn't do the show, maybe he didn't like the idea or he had scheduling conflicts... I can't say
Spade is Kuzco. Plain and simple
He made the character and it's his vocal traits that make Kuzco as hilarious, annoying and endearing as he is.
While J.P. Manoux is trying his darndest, but he just isn't the same.

reply

I agree, David Spade is the best tv brat, Kuzco is a self absorbed brat thats why david spade is better

I Love Dakota

reply

I miss him too, sadly Spade coun't do it because he is too busy on other shows, hes well known now. And mostly alot of shows thats is a series to a movie, well, the main character voice actor is 70% gonna be differnt.

reply

And isn't Cuzco spelled with a C? Now I think he's retarded...

reply

Look at the cast list- it's a K!!

reply

Kuzco's always been spelled with a K (since the first movie)
The original Peruvian city he's named after starts with a C..hence a bit of confusion

reply

That's not necessarily true.
Looking back at most Disney tv show to come out of movies the original voice is usually what's used in the show (ie: Aladdin, Hercules, Little Mermaid, etc).
Then again the voices behind these characters though recoginizable to us now really aren't that famous.

Saddie: NOOOOOO

reply

I haven't seen the series yet, but I saw that he was listed as a voice, and even through this is Kuzo in school, they have somebody bron in 1969, oding the voice, but I also like to know that, could they not get him to do the voice, I know he is doing his own Showbiz Show, but he can't be that busy with it, and I don't think that canceled it yet at least.

reply

No... Emperor (REAL) Cuzco is spelled with a C! A C I tell you!

reply

WELL THIS IS A CARTOON!!!!!
IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH EMEPEROR "CUZCO"!!!!

reply

[deleted]

Perhaps they didn't get him to do Kuzco's voice for the show because it would cost quite a bit, him being a rather big name now, and the show would have a more limited budget than the original movie or even the DTV sequel. The same is probably true for John Goodman.

reply

Well I think they should be more historically accurate.

I guess he knew that this show was going to be a dud, so he declined against it... I don't think schedule conflicts played in it; after all, Puddy stars un like, 237 cartoon shows, so if eh can get around to it, so can David Spade...

reply

I don't think David Spade is too big a star to do this voice. He's done some voice over work, he was a regular voice on the Beavis and Butthead series (1994-97) and he was in Rugrats The Movie.
There are a lot of "big" stars that do voice over work, all the time. Look at the short lived Hercules series on the Disney Channel. It was chock full of stars. Here's a list of the regulars: Tate Donovan (he did the movie's voice as well), Sandra Bernhard, Diedrich Bader (Oswald on Drew Carrey Show), Bobcat Goldthwait, Paul Schaffer, French Stewart (3rd Rock From The Sun), Lisa Kudrow (Friends), James Woods, Robert Stack (Unsolved Mysteries), Jason Alexander (Seinfeld), Tom Arnold, Brad Garrett (Everybody Loves Raymond), Linda Hamilton (Terminator movies), Charles Nelson Reilly, Matt Frewer (Max Headroom and Honey I Shrunk The Kids).
Not to mention Patrick Wharburton, who was a regular on Seinfeld and News Radio.
He's starred in tons of his own cartoon shows. Besides playing Kronk, he was The Tick and Buzz Light Year of Star Command, he's Joe Swanson on Family Guy, Brock Samson on The Venture Brothers, Mr. Barkin on Kim Possible, and Mr. X on The X's. He also played the Wolf in Hoodwinked and the alien cop in Chicken Little.

I think Manoux is doing a great job. He sounds pretty much the same to me. I do think Pacha sounds weird, though. He sounds good enough, I guess. I just hate when the original voice actors can't do it.

I love noticing slight subtle differences between a series and it's movie roots in terms of voice-acting.

reply

Um...excuse me...shouldn't that be spelled Cronk with a C...
or is it Kronc with a C at the end...
or is it Cronc with two Cs?

I'll have to defer to bysantinechild on this one. And I have to agree with him/her also on the K vs C spelling of the Emperor's name. Although not to pick any further nits, but I believe the Z should be a C, and the U should be an O, and you all totally forgot the T.

C-0-S-T-C-0! Costco! Costco! Go! Go!

In case you haven't figured it out, this has all been a subtle attempt at levity. Some posters get so anal!

And in response to the actual "thread" I for one like J.P.'s voice over for the bratty little Emperor. It fits the scripts/plotline of this series.

Also, Disney likes to run these series for three years so they can go into syndication, and make even more oodles of money with a DVD set.

And finally, J.P. does the best Barney Fife impression in his stand-up act. Bar none! I would love to see them incorporate that into either this show or Phil of the Future. Maybe Curtis the caveman becomes hopelessly addicted to the Andy Griffith show and.... I can only dream.

For there is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so. -Shakespear

SAG... the Screen Actors Guild (union)... changed their rules regarding the different ways that actors can be paid. This makes it tougher to package an offer to the agents/ actors with bigger names.

Some big names want to work on cartoons. Some don't. Their schedule may be good or bad. Or their kids may urge them to voice something in their favorite show.

reply

Good News they have J.P.Manox as Kuzco,Bad News they made Kuzco selfish again. Patrick Warburton is the only good one left.

P.S.They should turn Malina into a full little blue bird and put her inside a little cage.

reply

i think it is because the show is kind of a "PreQuel" and davids vioce is deeper than the person doing it now

Technically, her name is spelled Yzma. Not to mention, during production of Season 2, Disney at least understood that Ertha Kitt was dying, given that she died one month after the series finale, Graduation Groove, aired. It's no wonder the Emperor's New Groove characters have yet to be featured in a Kingdom Hearts game.

reply

Then why do various episodes mention the events of the film?

reply

The person who playes Kuczo is Vice Principal Hackett from Phil of the future.I think his name is JP Manoux.
