although i thought this was quite exciting and interesting to watch, it seems like there were loads of plotholes and unexplained things. is that just me??

Miller's son was the lad that the murdered girl was having sex with against a tree and she got pregnant by him. I think thats why he killed himself, because he was afraid that he'd get blamed for killing her.

I thought it was ok. The flashbacks got a bit annoying at times, even though they were essential to the plot. One of the reasons I watched it is because of Richard Coyle and George Irving, who I think are great actors.

Millers son was getting blamed for the murder of the girl this is why he killed himself, the sub plot of the girl being pregnant was never confirmed but is possible.

Just to verify:
We see the murdered girl first having sex with the boy who turns out to be Miller's son, right? Michael spies on them. Then he becomes involved with her. At the end, the flashbacks become confusing. Did Peter also have sex with her? That seems to be implied, and we see him kiss her and she goes along willingly, but that's it. Later, after Michael runs back to her (I don't know if this is the same day Peter tells him to go back to school because he'd late or not), she also says something about 'breaking it off,' and, 'it was only a shag.' Is she talking about Michael or Peter?

shareWhat? is the right question! I like a plot with some twists, but the writers here just didn't know when to stop. The ending completely throws away a lot of what we've supposedly learned about the characters all along. They went for the cheap surprise and ended up with lots of unexplained loose ends.
