It's got more prominent more recently, like a demented seal. When I first heard it, about the same time as the earlier posters, I thought there was some sort of sound problem. Rob Brydon commented about it on an episode from about a year ago (with a good impression added), and I was surprised it took a couple of years for something to be said, or put into the final edit at least!
