Jason Manford replaced by Jon Richardson

Saw it on twitter today. How does everyone feel about this?
I thought Jon Richardson was good when he was a guest, but I'm going to miss Jason :/

-Jason should be getting bummed at some point!-

On 18 November 2010, Manford resigned as co-host of The One Show to "concentrate on his family" following his admission to a number of allegations published in tabloid newspapers in regards to exchanging sexually-oriented Twitter messages with fans.

Much prefer Manford to this Richardson.

I personally prefer Jon Richardson to Jason Manford. I find Richardson to be more witty than Manford, he started out very funny but I just didn't find him that funny in the last series with him in it. If they got rid of Sean Lock though I think that would kill the show, him and Jimmy are just brilliant, their chemistry is great.

Yeah I'd be gutted if Sean Locke left though if he did my choice replacement would be Oh bugger his name just went out me head as I typing lol

Ah remembered soon as I pushed submit,Lee Mack

Panel shows usually work better when the team captains are opposites in some way. Like having Fry and Davies, Mitchell and Mack, and here Sean and Jon. They hunt in different territories which allows the show a broader range. Compare that to Never Mind The Buzzcocks, where Jupitus and Fielding are much more alike and Bill Bailey's humour started missing, which then got worse after Amstell left, who was the only factor which gave that show any edge.

Mack would be an interesting choice when compared to the awkward Richardson, but Sean also brings along a dose of cynism and nihilism, which goes well with the more idealistic Richardson (have a look at the tax episode, where Jon gets absolutely seriously angry, still smiling but nonetheless brutally honest in what he thinks), which Mack would not bring along. While it would work brilliantly on Countdown, I don't think Mack and Richardson find enough different angles on headlines.

Frankly, and I realise I have a year of hindsight now, I prefer Richardson. I liked Manford, but I don't miss him.

i like Richardson as well, ive never heard of him before this show but i like his sad little stories :)
Kinda reminds me of David Mitchell in "Would i Lie to you", and his observations about certain things, always giving that loner point of view but in a funny way.

Sean Lock is funny too, hes just the crazy dad of the show :) not always as witty or sharp, but just crazy throughout.

i liked Manford tho, hes pretty energetic but i thought his jokes were a bit generic, i mean, Richardson isnt a hardball comedian either but his character as a sort of bitter loner is funny to me.

i wanted to see Joe Wilkinson as a guest in Jon's team, and i was happy that happened last week :)

Me too, love him now that I know him. Love him as much as Manford if not more so.

Jon has established his comedy persona very well. Even sharper than Sean I think, but of course the contrast between them makes both greater. Which cannot be said about the new choices.
The new season was lame. It had moments, but when talking about current affairs, especially in this political climate, it stayed tame and irrelevant. It felt a bit like Mock The Week: everybody waits in line to deliver his gag, and then there is the next round.
Apart from pushing a dwarf and the appearance of Carrie Fisher, the last season felt lame.
