Did the creators understand anything about drainage or water tables?


This goes for NT 1, too, where they descend far underground below Manhattan, of all places, into a cavern which is inexplicably not flooded, despite being well below sea level.

This time, they enter a chamber which begins essentially at lake level, and proceed downward. The water somehow is being drained down and away... where? Some gargantuan underground river, hundreds of feet below the surface? Not to mention that the "drain" is a cavern which floods, and yet the water is draining away when the door is closed. Was there another drain? None mentioned.

Yes, it's only one more stupid facet of a contrived set of plot devices, but these seemed a bit glaring since they defied physics.
