Is this movie worth watching?

Ive not seen this movie yet, but i wana know is it a good movie, and is it worth watching, as im a very busy guy nowadays and i dont have much time to sit for hour n a half and watch a movie, unless its good n enjoyable.

All those who have seen this movie, what would u suggest for me

reply

if you love horror, france is miles ahead of anyone else. that said, ils is basically at the bottom rung of the perfection ladder. its probably comparable to the best american-made horror flick.

reply

Can you name 5 to 10 great french horror movies? I'd love to add them to my netflix que.

reply

That's just not true at all.

Saying this movie is comparable to the best American-made horror is laughable, in fact it's inexcusable and irresponsible and anti-American.

What he said was not anti-American in any way unless you are an American and feel offended, then that's your problem.

reply

I couldn't agree more. French horror cinema is light years better that american.
And I'm not from France, by the way...

You are oh so busy but you have time to come online and ask random people if this is a good enough movie for you to watch?

What a dumb thread, honestly. Everyone has their own opinions; likes and dislikes. My favorite movie ever could be hated by you....your favorite movie ever could be found to be extremely stupid by me. The point is...everyone has their own likes. It is a waste of time for you to come onto a message board and ask random people you don't know if they can tell you if YOU should watch this movie.

Give me a break. Be a big boy and start making your own decisions.

reply

this guy makes me laugh. he comes into a thread which is asking a very basic question that he has no intention of answering and he proceeds to post about "dumb", "waste of time".

take your own advice and start to act like a big boy.

btw, this is a pretty good flick...check it out.

reply

I'm so happy I can make you laugh. Stop enabling people with stupid questions. If this guy is so busy then how does he have time to post up on a message board. Just doesn't make sense and its a stupid question considering everyone has their own opinions.

Get it "shoebacca"? Now start acting like a big boy and change your name.

Thanks!

reply

I don't know, does it take you and hour and a half to make a post? Asking your fellow film fans weather or not a film is good is dumb? So I guess these boards only exist for people like you to complain and call people stupid for asking questions then, right? I swear, sometimes I wish there was no internet. I would prefer being ignorant to the fact there are so many people like you in the world.

reply

You are an idiot. The OP asked "is this worth watching??" That is a DUMB question. Every single person has a different opinion on what makes a "good movie". Something that you like, I could hate. Something that I love you could dislike. Something the OP enjoys could be "stupid" to someone else. The OP is asking random people he or she has never met to tell him or her if this movie is worth watching. That can't be answered. I liked it so I could say "yes, watch it!". Someone else could hate it and say "no don't watch it!" Then the OP is right back in the same position they were before. Ultimately if someone wants to watch a movie they are going to watch it, regardless of what you or I or anyone else says. That is why this was and still is a dumb question.

I also wish the internet didn't exist sometimes, so I didn't have to see stupid posts like yours. Thank you!

reply

It is possible to get a consensus and feel for the film by asking that simple question in a very short time. If he's anything like me, he has a waiting list of movies he wants to see, and maybe he'd like some brief input. Meanwhile, you show yourself to be the true idiot by taking your time over and over again to waste on something you consider dumb. And an inconsiderate punk.
Here is how you don't have to see 'stupid' post like this: Don't read them. And don't worry, we wish you didn't exsist on the internet, as well.

So every other person commented here is an idiot and you're not. I have only one thing to tell you.

"... stop the q-tip when there's resistance" Grow up, kid.

reply

Putting words in someone's mouth? Nope, I didn't say anyone who responds to this question is an idiot. I said that the original question asked is a stupid question. As I said before, everyone has their own opinion on what makes a good movie, good. The OP doesn't know us and doesn't know our likes. That is why I have never understood these people that come on here and ask "hey is this movie worth watching?". My favorite horror movie of all time has a 6.9 out of 10. So that means if I went onto the board and asked is this movie worth watching most people would probably say "ehh it is average at best" and I would not waste my time. And by doing so I wouldn't have discovered my favorite horror movie of all time.

Make your own decisions people.

reply

Sensing you are trying to make a point through your comment, I thought I'd reply.

I guess you are right. But just because he asked others about the movie before really investing time on a movie, he can't be called an idiot. That's a choice he made. Why don't you do this little exercise? Think about all the movies you loved, and those you hated or liked less. And see how much does it sync with IMDB scores? Most of your favourite movies would have high scores. In fact your favourite horror movie is 7.9, not 4.5 for instance. The OP was trying to get an opinion before he invests time on it. I see no harm in it. I say, cut him some slack and let him do how he likes and you be how you like. Just my two cents to this pointless dispute.

1) I haven't seen this one yet, but I am about to watch it so I'll check back in when it's done. As far as french horror films go, one I rather enjoyed from a few years back is called "High Tension." Its ratings speak for itself.

2) wtf CaliMan? Why does everyone on the internet always have to be such a prick. It takes 3min to post a question, as opposed to and hour and 30 min to watch a whole movie. The Guy is just asking for an opinion. Chill out and either be helpful or don't. But I digress...

thnx for all your comments ppl. i got the movie off a friend and i def will watch it sometimes soon.

i recently watched Ils, and it wasnt all that. its not really a horror, but i guess a thriller? can u tell me are there any more good horror movies from europe (not britain)? ive seen rec 1 and 2 from spain, and i love them.

reply

you should check "Martyrs" and "Inside" (both from France). Those are one of the best horror movies ever.
I like serbian horror films to (except the one entitled "Serbian film"-that one is just awfull). Even though all of serbian films are comedies, even if they are drama, romance, horror, sport movie, its always also a comedy, so you need to be prepared for that. for instance in the middle of a very intense scene in a horror, suddenly something funny happens.

reply

No.

reply

No my friend, dont waste your time, this movie is good for about the first half. then when you realize what is happening it starts loosing its value, and the ending looses all value, i gave it a 5. for this movie to have a 6.6 rating is beyond belief because it does not deserve it, it just shows that french people think too highly of their films. For someone to say it is comparable to the best american horror film is absurd.

reply

u rite. i watched it and didnt like.

I watched this after eating a very snooze-inducing meal, so I might go back, although the first 15 minutes wasn't really bringing me in. I will say that the music playing over the menu made me go to Amazon and here to see if there was a soundtrack available. It was extremely relaxing. No such luck, however.

No. In a movie where the protagonist goes out of the car with two bags and says later she has forgotten all of her documents in car, or where people had used a cellphone to talk while she was in the car (and the cellphone is not mentioned later), or where they escape to a subway while they know where to go... There's no explanation for this plotless movie. There's nothing going on. You have at least 50 min of nothing going on in a movie of 73 min.

In a movie where the guy see his wife car being robbed and shouts: Is there anybody else? It's not the worse part of it: He goes after the car, running, for a while, after deciding to call the cops...

The cops do not register the robbery because they wife does not have her/their/the car/whatever documents.

What did I watch? I think the movie's kids have written and direct this movie.
