Missing a sex scene

There is definitely a sex scene missing from a movie like this. I was sure it was coming when they fell off the couch together just before going to bed. In addition, she was all touchy-feely with Lucas when they were walking back to the house. But, nope, he was "exhausted." Lastly, a sex scene is just appropriate for this kind of movie, don't you think? Have it be the final "calm" before all the suspense starts.

There was no need for a sex scene. I'm glad the movie didn't have one.

To each their own.

haha... I like how people are so okay with violence, especially in a horror film but get all offended towards nudity. It's like "The characters can get eyes stabbed out, get arms cut off, and can be hacked to death but whatever you do, no sex scene or nudity. That's just going to far!"

I assume you are referring to ofuoku71's post. He made no mention of being offended at nudity or sex scenes. I also agree that not every movie needs a sex scene, this being one. We just need to know they love each other, and love isn't only about sex.

Most horror movies tend to have sex scenes but at times it can feel like there there just for the sake of it. This film worked without one so putting one it might have just felt forced.

If I wanna see people *beep* I watch porn. If I wanna see horror I watch a horror movie. I don't wanna see a random porn scene in the middle of a horror movie. It's unjustified.

Yep - I'm inclined to agree. And I think it would be particularly strange, distasteful even, in a film which is (allegedly) based on true events.

I could't understand a mindset which went from:

'What an horrific, terrible ordeal those poor people suffered'

to

'I bet they *beep* before it all kicked off!'.

It'd kinda reveal that the writer/director had no actual empathy for the individuals at all.

'But this moment of intimacy enables the writer/director to contrast the happiness of the relationship before the horror of what latterly ensued - thus contextualising/enhancing the viewer's empathy for the true horror of the ordeal.' blah blah blah

Yeah - fair point. Cuz when I see a tragic event on the news - I often have to picture the victims having sex so I truly empathise.

:/
