Beautiful film - SPOILERS

Much like Sicily, there is beauty, there is dirt, there is poverty, there is soul, there are dialects, there is mystery, there is family... and good food (great comment about the bread being like a cloud!)

I think the character of Lucy "Luce" is very interesting. She is mysterious, yet real. She isn't a fantasy version of a woman, yet she is fantastic, dreamy. I think she sensed something about Salvatore from the beginning, she observes him with his family– he is the only man she considers whom she sees in this context. Salvatore is a true nurturer and family man, loving. Even if Lucy doesn't love Salvatore right away, she knows she could grow to love him. She could have almost any man she wanted, but she asks Salvatore to marry her. She chooses Salvatore for hope, like the hope of the New World, of love.
