Far Better than the IMDB Rating and the comments here

OK I got in late. I never saw American Dreamz when it came out and to be honest it never really appealed to me. But I stumbled across it on TV tonight and it drew me in.

Yeah it could have been better, but there was so much to like about it.

Dennis Quaid as as the puppet George Bush reminded me of the TV show Spitting Image, from the Britain in the 80's. They did a similar send up of that other wooden actor who played President, Ronald Reagan, with an actual puppet. Did the earth move for you Nancy?

Chris Klein
as the gosh, darn, dumb soldier.

Willem Dafoe as the puppet master, was fantastic.

The stereotypical hopeful singers who we see in all of these TV talent shows, the rock guy, the RnB chick, the gay guy singing about how much he wants a woman.

It got really funny in the last 20 minutes or so and for all these reasons, I gave it well above the average rating it was sitting on.
