Still, anything can inspire a madman, it might aswell have been an old book about medieval torture, or some other movie, or the news, anything. It's weak to blame movies etc.

Who's to say it wasn't inspired by The Hills Have Eyes, Rituals, Return to Sleepaway Camp, Bad Dreams, Firestarter, Saving Private Ryan, The Mist, The Bad Seed, Night of the Living Dead, We Were Soldiers, Legacy, or The Thing? If he didn't see this he would been blaming something else.
