Hungary

I didn't know they had mountains in Hungary. Always thought of it as a barren flatland. Do they?

reply

They have an area called the Matra hills, also a mountain section on the border of Slovenia.

reply

They've got a bit of the Alps, and the Transdanubia, Mecsek, Carpathian, and Villany Mountains.

reply

50% Hungary 50% Isle of man

Mountains were defo Slovenia.

reply

... and they have a crap-load of Gypsies.

Hungary is not a city you moron. Jeez.

I am Hungarian and I somewhat enjoyed the movie. It was fun although the script was bullcrap. The problen is that it has nothing to do with reality. The problem is that all the Hungarian people in the movie are pictured as idiotic pathetic barbarians. Ridiculous. I am not going to rant about how degrading movies like this or like Hostel (it was a spit in the face of Slovakia and a pathetically crap movie) are, you guys would not give a *beep* anyways.
Just try to grow up. Countries like Hungary or Slovakia are far from being the stereotipical third-world barbaric crap which is pictured in these movies. It is degrading and offensive.
And believe it or not, we do not have Soviet and Balcanic guerillas strolling around in the forests.

reply

the bus driver and escort girls werent idiotic barbarians, just the guerillas. half the brit cast were idiotic. the escort girls were cool! we know hungary is not a third world, nobody thinks you have psychos strolling around the forests. theyre just movies. if the movie was based on reality it would have been a boring horror movie!

Lighten up VargFenrir. I don't think that most people believe that the killers in the movie were representative of all Hungarians. Its just a movie. Just like America isn't full of backwoods, deformed, inbred cannibals. Most of us aren't cannibals at all.

Eastern Europe (Slovakia, Hungary, Ukraine, Russia) is places I've always wanted to visit. There is so much history there that has always fascinated me. Most people who want to see Europe usally see France, Italy, etc but I'd rather see far east. :)

reply

Well I'm Romanian and that line about how only if they passed the border into Romania they would meet bears really made me laugh. :)

reply

I'm a hungarian. We have hills, mountains, and flatlands too. We don't have any bears (for ages), wolves, guerillas, abandoned buildings in the woods. These are facts:)

reply

What? No bears, wolves, guerillas, OR abandoned buildings in the woods? And I was considering visiting Hungary too, thanks for the warning!

Actually I have passed through Hungary on the way to Romania and it looks like a lovely place and shall no doubt spend more time there in the future. Personally I love the whole former Eastern Bloc thing, a fascinating part of recent history, and abandoned industrial buildings are always cool.

By the way the only thing I saw in the Hungarian woods was prostitutes, and thats a fact!

reply

if you go down to the woods today you are in for a big surprise

reply

No wolves in Hungary? I find that hard to believe, we have them in Scotland, and we are surrounded by water on 3 sides and by the English below.

Opinions are just onions with pi in them.
