Catches the spirit of the original

Tokyo Drift is probably the only sequel that catches the spirit of the original.
First of all it's all races and girls and features an exotic location.
But it's also a humble and genuine entertaining installment.
No big plots like in a James Bond adventure, but a light and solid story with convincing characters.
I rate it ***/*****

You know what, that is quite true. TD may not be anywhere near as memorable and solid as the original, but it is a very grounded (for what it is) and straightforward movie compared to everything that followed. And while it might’ve felt like a completely different movie to some, looking back this third movie unarguably has so much in common with the movie that started it all — moreso than any other sequel. I’ve always liked it.

It's my second favorite in the franchise and also probably the only other F&F film I would actually buy on Blu-Ray.

1 & 3 are both great.

2 I disliked for a long time but now have some nostalgia-based love for. 5 is pretty good and definitely the best of the "modern" F&F films.

The rest I could do without.

I'm currently watching a F&F marathon and am 👀 this one right now after #1. I'm going to watch 4,6,7,8 after this is over👍

It also highlights a specific style of racing.
