I had the worst audition of my life for this film.

So my agent called me up and told me I'd be reading for a part, and when I got there I read for the part of some dude in the bathroom. I show up and read my line for this lady named Tracy. She firsts asks me if I can do them without a southern accent(I wasn't aware I was using one, haha), and after I read again, she asked me if I could come back for a call back. I said it was cool, but really it wasn't cause I was going to see Billy Idol later that night in Myrtle Beach.

So I take my sides(lines of script for the audition) with me to school so that I'll be sharp for my call back. I decide to add some extra words to them, to really kick them up a notch, as I thought they were a little flat. I come back at 5pm for the call back and I'm kind of in a hurry and am a little anxious. They call me in first, and Tracy says "Hey Kenny, you'll be reading for the director, D.B Sweeney". I shake his hand, and immediatly my mind starts trying to think of where I know him from.

Now, I've worked around plenty of actors, including some wayyy more recognisable than DB, and never act like a fan would. I figure we're both actors(they just work more, and get paid way more), but for some reason I totally acted like a jackass around this guy. As soon as I remembered where I knew him from, I said to him "Oh man, I know you! You were in that movie where you were like, a hockey player, but then you got hurt or something, and you became a figure skater, and there was this chick, and you like hated each other, but really had the hots for each other! Man they used to show that like every Saturday on Fox 26! Dude I watched that movie all the time!" As I was saying this he looked embarrased. Tracy was even like "Oh really, do you get a lot of residuals on that movie?". DB was all like "Yeah, yeah, they can't kill that movie." I felt like an *beep*

After I said this I immediatly realized what I had done, and realized I had screwed up the audition. I went in and read the lines like I had practiced, and DB goes "I've been in this business for over 20 years, and one thing you don't wanna do is ad lib your sides. The writers wrote them that way so that they'd be read that way and in this case, I am the writer". Man I felt like an *beep* I of course was nervous for the rest of the reading and it went horrible. All in all though, DB was a very nice guy. I was so shell shocked after that one though, that I would get really nervous at the next few auditions I had. Thankfully I got over it by the time my One Tree Hill audition came up. Nailed that one!
