9/11?

I was watching this flick on SyFy and I noticed they used some news footage of 9/11. I think it was, anyway. It wasn't the cheap ass CGI either. Did they really use 9/11 footage in this movie? That seems kinda tacky...

reply

Yes they did! I saw that too. And the worst part was that they used a disclaimer after each commercial break saying the following footage might be hard for viewers to watch! How *beep* stupid and insensitive is that???

"Strength is not without the absense of fear"

This movie was playing on TV this past weekend. I noticed the 9/11 footage.
I live in Canada, but I still found it very disrespectful. And it was used more than once. Very foolish move to try and save money.

reply

Yes they used it at least twice. Very offensive! This movie should be banned.

Dark of the Moon should be banned! It used footage from a space flight!
Many War movies should be banned, because it used Nazis and the holocaust!
OMG! POWER RANGERS SHOULD BE BANNED! THEY USED ZYURANGER STOCK FOOTAGE!
OMFG! MASKED RIDER SHOULD BE BANNED! IT USED Kamen Rider RX Black Stock Footage!
OH NOES! DAY AFTER TOMORROW USED SCENES FROM PAST HURRICANS AND BAD WEATHER! BAN IT WITH FIRE!!1!

Yeah. Typical IMDB post here. Ignore.

Don't take my post seriously.

The point that you are making is very valid.

What is it about Americans, and their attitude to the world (that is, those Americans who are aware that there is a world outside the USA - which is probably a minority).

reply

What is tacky or insensitive about it? War movies often use real war footage. The comparatively minor bombing of a handful of buildings in a city as large as New York is a mere footnote of history by comparison. Of course the images can be used, if relevant.
