This isn't Vince Lombardi by any chance? I don't know much about his history before the Packers, so I don't know if he started his career at Army or not. Any info would be helpful!!

Yes it is him, he went on to coach the Pack in 1958. Check out his bio at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lombardi

Vince Lombardi was an offensive coach at Army and the offensive coordinator for the NY Giants where Tom Landry was the defensive coordinator at the same time.
