Thanks for your help but I will not add on a movie until it is out and it is clear that it could have a chance, and I'm sure it will, but I would prefer to wait. Thanx for the other tips.

That list seems pretty accurate but you forgot one thing, since the movie awards are on such a weird schedule half of those movies will long be forgotten in favor of whatever is big around the time the next MTV Movie Awards airs.

That's all I can think of for now, but based on what they chose last year, I'm pretty confident that these are fairly close to what will be nominated.

reply

Nobody has been adding Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire into their nominees. You may hate the movie, but you have to say that it would be in a couple of categories like: Best Villian, Best On-Screen Team, Best Movie, and Best Action Sequence...

Update: By the way...does anybody know when the 2006 Awards will be airing?

reply

The only nomination a Harry Potter movie got was for Breakthrough Performance - Male for Daniel Radcliff (he lost to Orlando Bloom for Lord of the Rings). As good as Goblet of Fire was, it was hardly the best of the series. I'd rank it fourth in the movies just ahead of Chamber of Secrets. As far as your predictions for it go:

Action Sequence? Not with such loud and obvious choices like King Kong, Batman Begins, The Island, War of the Worlds, Transporter 2, Star Wars Episode III, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, etc. Remember, the director wins Action Sequence and think of the directors they love to nominate (Michael Bay, Peter Jackson, George Lucas and John Woo).

On-Screen Team? If they didn't make it in 2002 and 2004, then it's very unlikely they'll make it here.

Best Movie? See above statement and include 2001. It wasn't the best of the series and if Prisoner of Azkaban and Sorcerer's Stone didn't make it, Goblet of Fire definantly won't.

Best Villain? Maybe. There's a good chance for Ralph Finnes as the evil Voldemort himself, but maybe his role was too brief to make an impact. Besides, there's Hayden Christensen, Tilda Swinton and Jane Fonda to nominate (they love comedic villains).

Now, you're excluding the best chance Goblet of Fire has in Breakthrough Performance - Male in Robert Pattenson for playing Cedric Diggery. If anything, that's the best chance Goblet of Fire has for an MTV nomination. However, if it were the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards...

reply

[deleted]

You're giving MTV way too much credit for being a legit award show (Philip Seymour Hoffman, Crash, Felicity Huffman?). Stick to major hits and pop culture trends of the year (& don't forget a few spoilers in Jan. & Feb. of 2006 always squeak their way inside) and they'll usually be the ones nominated. Remember, MTV goes for fads and popularity with the occasional cultural trend-setter.
