What's the point anymore?...

What are we supposed to tune in for? Andy Parsons and Russell bloody Howard?

reply

My sentiments entirely. I haven't bothered to watch since Frankie left, just seeing and hearing the tripe that Russell Howard comes out with makes me angry.

What angers me more is that that c u n t has completely ruined an excellent, satirical TV show. And what do the BBC do? Give him his own bloody show. Ridiculous.

Come on Frankie with his whole 20 minute show, god give him a new show and good riddance. There are 6 comedians and he had at least 40-50% of the show that aired. My maths is not that brilliant but that is huge time.

More than anything, the dynamic of the show is ruined now. When Frankie was there, I didn't mind Howard because he was a good foil for his dark humour, but now he is just getting more and more annoying. Parsons was a bit the same but I don't mind him so much. If they show is to recover, they should really have a bit of a clear out because the styles of comedy don't mix so well now that Frankie is gone.

Dara: Intellectual style but genial, very quick, encourages others, self-depricating, fantastic timing, doesn't rely on anecdote. Can take the straight man role but often turns it on its head.

Hugh: Posh, uses low brow humour but gives it a twist, a bit repetitive, needs the others to stop him adopting that annoying 'anchor man' persona. Pretty good impressionist, a calming influence. Can be the straight man.

Parsons: Slow and bumbling style, often interpretted as annoying but good at working with the others as a foil, draws the audience in and gets them on his side.

Howard: USED to be a foil for Frankie's dark and edgy humour. Young, energetic style, reliance on anecdote and observation, silly. Can be very tiring and repetitive if there's nothing to balance it.

Frankie: Dark, moody, cutting, close to the bone humour. Can bulldoze the others out of the way, very loud and overbearing. But he was very quick, very sharp and there was something almost cheeky about him which made it ok, plus his style was tempered by the others.

Frankie's loss was always going to be felt much more keenly than any of the others because he was such a large character. They can't replace him, just getting someone else 'dark' wouldn't do it, because he wasn't just dark, he was quick and cheeky and clever at the same time. They need to shift the dynamic now, shake it up and change some of the main players to try and get a new mix. And yes, please, just get rid of Howard, I used to like him but he's just annoying the *beep* out of me now.
