How Much is Miranda in This?

I have been thinking about if I should watch this or not, and I realized that it comes down to two things: How much is Miranda Richardson in this movie, and What is her character like? Any thoughts, opinions, and so on will be greatly appreciated!

To the first question, not very much- I mean, she has a fairly significant part, but as with Sam Neill, she's not on screen all that much. It's not like Merlin, where she was on screen most of the time. Throughout the first part, she appears mostly whilst plotting with Rauskaug (the bad guy), and although she appear more on her own in the second part, the focus is mainly on the "good guys".

SPOILERS ALERT

To the second question, her character is evil. She claims later on that Camelot drained her streams and lakes, thus turning her against them. She plots with the other bad guy (Rauskaug) to destroy Camelot. She's not given a load of character development, that's pretty much it.

OK, thank you. Yay for evil Miranda!

I think shes actually quite a cool baddie in it. I like what they did with her voice. That sort of echo thing. I know this isn't the standard of the first one and it doesn't follow the storyline but then again I just think of this as a standalone film not a sequel to the first one. I like it. There is some cool magic in it.

OK, saw it. :) It was not connected to Merlin in any way, but I still liked it. She rocked. I would have taken her up on those offers she gave Jack...any other takers?

reply

Oh yeah without any hesitation lmao

No more croaky whisper, yay! I fail to understand how the director of the original Merlin even let her do that voice. Yes I don't blame Miranda, after all the director had the final say and he ok'd her annoying whisper.

Hey, I loved the whisper:D

I also loved the whisper, I thought it was rather fantabulous, and a bit sexy, too. That's just my opinion.

TBH, I preferred Mab's voice in the first one, not just because I preferred the effect overall, but because it sounded much more realistic- admittedly, that's likely because Mab's voice was simply performed by Miranda Richardson, whereas the Lady's voice has always had to be laid on afterwards, because of the effects in it- but even the Lady's voice seemed to fit better in Merlin than in MA.

Perhaps it's because it sounds very water like and slightly ethereal, which is precisely how the Lady of the Lake looks in Merlin, whereas in MA, she looks much more solid and human, and so the voice just seems a bit.. out....
