The apprentice was not Merlin's son?

I watched this here and there, but from what I saw it was very disappointing as I see mentioned here on the board. The original movie was terrific! But I just wanted to make sure because I had the impression the apprentice is supposed to be Merlin's son. He's not is he? Who were they saying was his parents?

He is the son of the Lady of the Lake and Merlin.
The Lady raped Merlin, though.
No, seriously.

He was. The Lady of the Lake had kept Merlin asleep for 50 years, more than intended for Merlin. The Lady of the Lake basically, conceived while he was asleep.
