Crap

This show, like so many before it, is garbage. It will be dust in a matter of weeks. My question: Are the writers writing down for an imagined audience of idiots, or are the writers horribly untalented? What could explain such banal crap? I'm really intrigued how writers, most of whom must have some penchant for their craft and the medium, can churn out such drivel. I just can't believe that a room full of even marginally talented people would produce this show unless they were instructed to shoot for the gutter.

Unltimately, I suppose that absence of quality is either intentional or it isn't. In the case of the former, why? A presumption that the audience craves garbage? There's a certain cynical temptation to believe that, but does it really bear up? We all assume this show will be canned within weeks. The posters on this thread must not believe that the market demands trash; we all assume the market will reject this.

So, unintentional. Could it be that enough people have made it through the cracks who actually believe this program is good?! Is that really possible? I would never have thought that building a career as a writer in such an incredibly dense market could be faked. Is that naive?

Someone with some real insight into the industry kindly explain the phenomenon of the clearly awful show making it to prime time.

After this garbage, they will come up with a new show about some young person looking for love. Maybe one will be a doctor or a cop or a lawyer. They will have 2 best friends one a flamboyant gay, the other a sex crazed maniac..

In other words they will rehash the same crap over again!

God I long for the days of good writing like in Seinfeld!!

OMG u said that so right one. As the consumer who every now and then accepts some trash(since no cable here), if it has something likeable not so much familiar(dharma) its not that we demand trash but when its given 2 u sometimes ur like "hey blah blah beat em or join em" play along, u could nap a little, cook a little, straighten up ur place whatever so u need a crappy show every now and then cause the good shows u can't pull ur eyes away from the tv enough to get crap done. Like a annoying friend u really can't stand or a dude ur dating u r settling with, u keep em around for some convenience or ur like 'me da igual=i could careless so y not keepit around/watch it", now if they dissapear(get canned)on their own then ur like oh well like actually watching it----there was nothing u could do [bout it]. I think this could be the rationale for most - its ur break from the banging shows, every1 1 know say that shows like this allow 4 u 2 get stuff done, attend to the kids whatever. U said it best. I'm tryint 2 reason w/myself honestly i'm thinking of Ghost Whisperer. There goes i confessed it -step2- y y? is it that i watch it- must be the above. Beats doing nothing, can't sleep. Funny tho i used 2 b the 1 who rather b alone/or do nothing than settle 4 trash, acceptance overrode by refusal got the best of me. Im outta trying to reason here. Also when u got a good line up of hrly shows coming up after the crappy 1 is done w/ what else do u do wait, try 2 sleep so u'r like its a half n hr it should fly by. It's y I think so manny crap shows are half hr - they assume ppl would b like what the heck I'll tuff it out betta than wait it out lookin out the window or somethin. Can u work w/that?4get all that i wrote base it on this last attempt: ok think of it like this" the reason ppl settle for trash/gbge/junk is because of the "well its better than....syndrome" betta than being lonely, being bored etc. that goes 4 d ppl w/out cable, now 4 the ones w/-- there r alot of ppl w/this dry boring nature and humor that those like them in their own class consider these shows to be a riot, they prevail sometimes.

"it's better than the crappy reality shows they keep making us watch."

Does someone tie you up and hold a gun to your head and actually make you watch their shows?

Wow. You live in a tough town. I sure am glad my television comes with an on/off switch and there is a library in my town.

Holy Hannah! Can't you call the cops and get these people to stop forcing you to watch their stupid shows?

Maybe 60 Minutes or 48 Hours can be notified and make a tv show about how you are forced to watch stupid tv shows nightly.

The reason that most television is ridiculously moronic is that the majority of the population are useless ignoramusus. Perhaps you have managed to successfully avoid this, but I deal with a plethora of morons each day who can't manage to string a paragraph together using proper grammer and no chat speak (look above). The drunk are currently leading the blind. Network execs happen to realize that a lot of their viewers want something stereotypical and full of unrealistic fantasies.
If someone tries to get a different kind of show into the mainstream, they get fired. Very few people care enough to actually push through and make the humor widespread. You say Seinfeld is the best sitcom in the past fifteen years. I agree. Seinfeld was hated by nearly all the networks. One man was smart enough to give them four episodes. That was supposed to be it. There were, however, a few people who gave them the chance to be great. I know of no one in the entertainment industry today who would be willing to give a few guys with no previous experience a job.
