worst movie ever made

this movie was trash, worst make-up and effects ever. The plot was non-existent. DO NOT WATCH

While I wouldn't say "the worst film ever made", it was pretty bad--I gave it a 3/10. I thought the script, the performances, the direction and the editing were all horrible.

One of the big problems is that the script, performances and direction combined to make EVERY character as weird as anything in a David Lynch film, but for absolutely no reason, no payoff. I'm guessing it was unintentional, because the weirdness of the characters is extremely inconsistent, and there's nothing else weird about the film--it's not as if the whole project seemed to be shooting for some kind of surrealism or absurdism. The characters are bizarre off and on, in an extremely mundane (and slow paced) world, and they're bizarre in changing ways, for no apparent reason, throughout the whole length of the film. If there were some payoff for all of that, or at least more of a plot, the weirdness might have worked better, but the film is really just a lame divorce drama. Ugh.

Is everyone in this house a total nutzoid or is it just me?

Characters are 'weird' in part, because that's how Jake perceived them, characters were probably normal a lot of the time too, but that's not memorable nor even significant.

Mother and friend were also more focused on own their emotions and concerns than those of the children. This also lead to some very strange behaviour and a definite lack of empathy.

I think this movie is very insightful. Every adult going through a separation or divorce where a child or children are involved ought to watch it, as a reminder at least that children have deep emotions too but lack the maturity to deal with them.

I am sorry but people who make posts entitled "Worst Movie Ever Made" should be automatically banned for life from IMDB. They have utterly no capacity whatsoever for properly critiquing or analyzing films and putting that into a coherent and intelligent argument. We all know that no matter how bad this film may be that there are literally hundreds if not more that are vastly worse. People use such statements because again they are utterly incapable of expressing their dislike for a film in an intelligent manner. They have absolutely no business even making posts that deal with such "Complex"subject matter and unfortunately its one of the reasons why IMDB has really become a shadow of its former self. Allowing people like this to factor into the scoring of a film only makes the scoring system on this site an utter joke and its why the top 250 has become a popularity list instead of a best of all time list.

Get rid of the trolls, get rid of the morons, or at least take away their right to actually speak and vote and this site just may become great once again. As is I would feel better getting my reviews from a kindergarden class than from some of the people who currently post on this site. This has absolutely nothing to do with giving this film a bad score as I haven't even seen it yet. It simply deals with the mentality of the "Worst film of all time" post which has become all too frequent on this forum.

If your going to watch films and then come onto sites like this and make posts discussing such films, at least learn some common and basic vocabulary and at least learn some basic critiquing skills. Quit skipping english class and actually learn how to use the english language. Its really not that difficult. Again most kindergardeners could give a more compelling review and make a better argument.

"The plot was non existent. DO NOT WATCH"

Wow, that is just so deep and incredibly insightful. Where did you pick up such amazing critiquing skills? The monkey Exhibit in the zoo?

Though apparently a bit too difficult for some, to wit:
The above improper use of 'your' when 'you're' was meant is among the richest grade of ores I have yet found in an ironic denouement on IMDB.
Topped with the luscious cherry of your failure to capitalize the 'E' in 'English class' and in 'English language', your wordy concoction fails to provide literary sustenance despite the appearance of intellectual substance in your pile of whipped up wording.

As for your rambling on about the lack of coherence with which some poser-posters write, all that can be said is that you seem to have missed an opportunity to enlighten the masses with the scintillating and profoundly meaningful revelations in re direction, screenplay, acting, lighting, sound, editing, production design, etc., undoubtedly filling your own review of the film, rather than with your unintentionally hilarious review of one poster.

IOW, the post you excoriate, as poorly written as it truly is, provides far more info on the film than did your post, lol!
Geez, buddy: Lighten Up!

You sound so deep and insightful, please tell me more how everyone does it wrong and how I can be right all the time like you!

Critiques like this just make me want to go see it more...lol. If it was completely over your head, then it's probably just right for me. So Thanks!

I concur with debo0187 to this extent. This was the worst movie I've seen in the last 10 years. My son who talked us into buying it on cable gave me the money I spent on it out of embarrassment. No matter how long you hang in there watching, it never gets better.

Now, HERE is a truly useful post which contains no info on the material in the film, but only the opinions of the poster.
Despite the lack of hard story or filmmaking data the info in the post is about all one need know to make one's viewing decision.
Now I know to waste no time on this film.
Thx for your cogent writing, steve07-1!

Ok, let's see...

First of all, SPOILERS AHEAD!
Then:
Jake is told by a slightly older peer (read: not friend) that the dead rabbit in his backyard was killed by zombies. To anyone in jaded Adult Land, this observation sounds outlandish, but to this naive boy, the only way this damage could have been done is by the mysterious creature known as the zombie. His only knowledge of the elusive zombie is the other boy's description and a Zombie FAQ that the boys print off of the Internet. Every time Jake gets stressed out (there are many times, since his parents are recently seperated and still fighting openly over new love interests and custody agreements), he thinks he notices zombie-type noises coming out of his closet. Every time Jake reads a new line from the FAQ, he hears that same description coming from said closet. Things get worse once he catches the tail end of "Night of the Living Dead" one night on tv and sees what "real" zombies look like, and after he overhears his mother mention that the old owner of their house was an undertaker. So, the movie goes on and on and on, with Jake witnessing the collapse of his parents marriage, his name-calling peer who just happens to be the son of his mother's best friend, and a drunk babysitter who hits the cooking sherry as soon as the mother leaves for a night on the town with her new Real Estate salesman beau. The end comes when Jake's father confronts Mr. Real Estate in their front yard. The zombie (who happens to look just like the NOTLD zombies, of course) has come out of the closet and is now battling Jake and chasing him around the house, dumping cereal and getting Jake to take the blame when his mother shows up. It's now that we are allowed to know tha the zombie can only be seen by Jake, and mysteriously hides whenever other non-dead humans have the nerve to show their faces. The very end has the parents in the backyard, arguing over Jake's apparent lunacy, while Jake himself runs circles around them, all the while screaming because his invisible zombie is chasing him in the open and his parents are doing nothing to help him. Finally, Jake sits on the ground and listens to his parents try to decide what to do with him. THE END.

Seriously, that's the end. Now, I get what the symbolism is supposed to mean, and how the imagination of a 7 year old can be stretched into infinity, but the point of the movie was totally lost on me. What did the kid learn? How did he change? Jake confronted his fear... then what? I just couldn't wrap my mind around that part. Maybe I accidentally fell asleep and missed something important, without realizing it?

Ah, whatever. Ninety minutes of my life and blah, blah, blah.

I've got two good posts in me and I just wrote my third...

Does every movie that you see have a neat and tidy ending on it?
"And they lived happily everafter", doesnt apply here.
The boy is damaged. The parents dont even know it or care, at least the mother doesn't. She is too busy trying to fina ANYTHING to make her ex husband out to be the "monster" here.
The boy hopes to "slay" his demons (zombies in this case) but he cant; no matter how much he tries. ITS HIS PARENTS who are terrorizing his life. His parents friends are terrorizing his life. A no good babysitter, a slightly older "friend" who is FORCED into his life.
If the movie went on for another hour and a half you would see more of the same, because that is what Jake sees day in and day out.
At this point, even if the parents stopped all of the fighting and arguing, Jake would need therapy to undue the damage already caused.

This is a movie for PARENTS. For people who fight in front of their kids. For people who dont listen or dont really care about how their turmoil is destroying their kid or giving him any sort of chance of "normal" if there is such a thing.
A kid in this environmnet stands a very poor chance of developing a good relationship when he grows up. He has no idea of what a "good" relationship is.

He will always be facing a "monster" in his life and sadly one day, he may become a "monster" as well.

This movie may not apply to EVERY viewer. There certainly are good people, and even people who maintain decent relationships in situations of a divorce.
The worst case senario is those who view this and think that it doesnt apply to them, when THEY are the source of the problems.

*SPOILERS*

Very good posting! You obviously 'got' what many people missed.

This is a devastating critique on the effects of divorce on a young child, presented from a unique perspective of the child.

This movie doesn't use a Lifetime drama way of portraying:

How emotionally neglected such a child may feel in this situation.

How manipulated a child can become in such a situation by the adults around him. It's too much how the mother drums up farfeteched 'abuse' by the father to suit her own needs while being oblivious to the abuse of other adults she puts in charge of her son (e.g., her good friend who slaps him and calls him names; the drunken babysitter).

How ignored the child's concerns are by the adults so enmeshed in all THEIR 'drama'.

How the child has so little power/control over his life, that he would rather feel some measure of control by battling a 'zombie' -- the imaginary monster in his closet but oh so real to him, than the reality of his life -- the 'real' horrors he must face, but ones he cannot devise weapons against nor ones for which he has an FAQ sheet about.

The ending was tragic and I think this would be a good film to show couples with children who may be contemplating a divorce.

I have seen much MUCH MUCH worse than this.

It was told from a child's perspective and I appreciated that, it made me remember what it was like being a kid and thinking there were monsters in my room lol.
