Week 7 - Hallowe'en edition 2017

Eights for Nikki looked pretty generous. If you watched her side by side with Artem the difference between their energy levels is pretty high. And later she seemed to be kind of walking through it. Plus, re her package comments, don't understand how someone can be top heavy and bottom heavy at the same time. Doesn't it have to be one or the other?

Maks went in for quite a production on his dance with Vanessa. Not really his usual thing; he must have surrendered a bit. But it was pretty fun, even if Vanessa didn't really have all that much to do.

Writing this as I watch, I'd guess T.O. is probably going home tonight. Still can't see him as a dancer. Not too sure how he got a 9 out of Bruno. In fact I can't remember the last time Bruno was alone with the highest score. He is frequently together with Carrie Ann higher than Len, but almost never on his own.

Loved the routine Mark designed for Lindsey. Between music, costumes and steps, tremendously entertaining. And he even got enough traditional content in to save it with Len!

Frankie's dance was an amazing piece of theater. Unfortunately something happened to the recording and I didn't see all of it, or his results.

I wonder if Drew and Emma really like one another. She hit the suspended bat away from her and instead of stopping it, he just told her "it's going to hit you" and then watched it happen. Their routine was one of those campy ones where you can't tell what's a mess up and what's intended. Turns out it was a fall, but strangely none of the judges mentioned it. Apparently even Carrie Ann thought it was intended!

The scores for the Monster Mash dance seemed high compared to the comments that preceded them.

Agreed with the judges that the Phantom of the Ballroom team did a tremendous job on their dance.

Wow, shocked by the elimination! And who it was! Hard to believe. Wonder if a double was planned in advance or it was a tied situation... Carrie Ann looked stunned and then angry. Maybe it's too wild a speculation, but could it be that the producers are tired of refereeing between Vanessa and Maks so when she came up in second to last place, decided to do a double elimination?

In any case, the producers must be severely disappointed. Here they had this famous couple in the Lacheys dancing with a show couple, offering all kinds of fun storylines, but it's already over, far too early.

Agree about Nikki. Do you think she knew this would be her last week? She didn't seem "all in" like usual.

Last week, people on Twitter were saying Halloween would be a double elimination, so that was apparently known. I don't remember hearing it on the show, though.

Yeah, the Maks/Vanessa performance was fun. It was a refreshing change for those two.

I enjoyed the Mark/Lindsey dance, too. I'm glad he came back this season. Too bad Lindsey was in such pain.

Frankie. That performance gave me chills. Not because of the dance skills, but because it spooked me, lol. It was really unexpected and I loved it. He got a perfect score of 30. Not sure they deserved that, but I'll take it. This team is having the most fun and it would be a shame to see them go.

That's funny about Drew and the bat. I thought the same thing.

I thought the Monster Mash dance was cute. The judges were right in that they could have done better, but their comments seemed a bit petty. The actual scores seemed fair. Are they told by producers to talk it up or talk it down?

The Phantom dance was fantastic. That deserved the high praise it got.

Yeah, the producers probably thought they could get some good entertainment from the Lacheys. Too bad it turned sour.

Even though this season had a mediocre start, the "special" nights have been fun. I really enjoy the fall seasons that have the Halloween shows, and a little Christmas send-off at the end.

Re Nikki, not sure. Sometimes people get tired of doing it and it can't help but show.

Interesting that people knew in advance about the double X. Maybe it's something deducible from knowing past seasons, or logical from knowing the remaining schedule.

Thanks for the info on Frankie. I'm going to see if I can catch it on Hulu.

I hope the judges are told nothing other than "say what you think, but be entertaining about it".

Good point about the special opportunities the fall seasons offer -- hadn't considered that!
