Is Zingarina a gypsy?

Zingarini seems to be French/Italian, but is she also a gypsy?
And what nationality/culture is Tchangalo? Turkish? Gypsy?

I'm just curious; trying to understand cultural subtleties I may have missed.

They live in Moldova, next to Transylvania, part of Romania...they speak romanian or hungarian, but they call themself Csango, Ceangalai (Tchangoo)...

Zingarina is definitely not Csango, but Tchangalo may be.

Moldova is its own country and Transylvania is part of Romania, to clear up any confusion. Csango live in both Moldova and Romania.
