Yes, it does sounds a little ignorant from you but... it is acctually a common thing, just like in the US you'll find Americans with last names such as Cruz, Garcia, Gonzales, Perez etc. So yes... Edwards!!! By the way im Latino and my first and last names are German... Later.

Well, the Edwards family in this movie may have had an ancestor that was either American or English that had settled down in Mexico(although the movie was filmed in Chile). My dad(stepdad) has family down in Mexico(Hermosillo, Sonora) that have the last name of Johnson. And they have been and still are a wealthy and very well known family in both that particular city and state in Mexico. The reason why they have that last name instead of a Spanish last name like Fernandez,Perez,Garcia, etc. is because the family had an American ancestor by the name of John Johnson who settled down in Oposura(now Moctezuma)Sonora, Mexico sometime in the 1800's. After more than a few generations, the family are basically Mexican and are now based in Hermosillo which is the capital city of Sonora and also "own" a small town called San Marcial which is east of Hermosillo and towards the state of Chihuahua and even Monterrey(capital city of the Mexican state of Nuevo Leon). And even former Mexican president Vicente Fox had an American ancestor that was of Irish descent. So, if somebody from Mexico or anywhere else in Latin America has a non-Spanish last name such as Johnson, Edwards, Platt, Fox, Ochmann, Healy, etc. than that means that that person or persons had an ancestor that was either American or European and had settled in those countries a century or two ago.
